Bunker Hill Monument commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill, where the famous command "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" was issued. Local lore makes much of the battle misnomer; the battle actually took place on Breed's Hill. Many tourists end their Freedom Trail tour here. Some ambitious visitors undertake the upward climb of 294 steps to the top of the monument, as the view from the top is breathtaking, and one can take in panoramic sights of Boston’s skyline.

Located near historic Faneuil Hall, this plaza honors one of Boston's old-time city bosses, James Michael Curley. Curley's notorious exploits and scrapes with the legal system spawned many a local legend. So relax in the plaza, perhaps while reading a copy of Edwin O'Connor's The Last Hurrah, believed to be a fictional account of Mayor Curley's life.

The United States Lightship Nantucket is a historic landmark, having served as one of the last of its kind. It was of great historic significance to eminent vessels such as SS United States, RMS Queen Mary and SS Normandie. It has guided transoceanic shipping from the U.S. east coast ports for as many as 39 years. Decades later, the need to preserve and save this unique historic and venerable vessel was undertaken.
