tripadvisorMany people walked next to it but only us made a stop and admired this wonderful piece of art. So it's not totally hidden, it's the door on the building, a very big and ornate one, people just don't look at it. In 1917 this building was the headquarters of the Salada Tea Company in the United States and the building also served as a cultural center that held a significant collection of Asian art. Company’s founder Peter C. Larkin commissioned the doors in 1926 by English sculptor Henry Wilson to celebrate the cultivation of tea in Ceylon as well as the tea trade. The bronze doors weigh approximately two tons.
MoreThese intricately-designed doors were beautiful. Doors are designed to have the panels tell the history of the origins of tea. Glad we stumbled upon this free public art.
MoreMy husband and I were walking back from brunch, not really having a clue when we walked up on this site. Craftsmanship is unbelievable. They are beautiful and I would definitely recommend taking the time to stop and look!
MoreThe craftsmanship is outstanding. Take your time and really look at all of the little details. Must see.
MoreJust walking past these beautiful ornate doors, reminded me of all the doors in Florence. Gorgeous details and well worth viewing if you are in the area. But they do nothing. So you will only stand and look at them.
