Liberty Bell Center Historical Monument ·$

A jewel of the Independence National Historic Park, the Liberty Bell spans layers and layers of long-standing history. In 1751, William Penn asked that the new bell being cast for the Pennsylvania Statehouse be engraved with the words, “Proclaim liberty throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants thereof.” When the bell first rang to call citizens to the first reading of the Declaration of Independence, little did it know that it was going to change the course of the country forever. It was later dubbed the 'Liberty Bell' by abolitionists, who adopted the bell as a symbol of their fight for freedom for all Americans. A copper-clad, 2,080-pound (940-kilogram) icon of American independence, The Liberty Bell yet serves as a symbol of pride, inspiration and freedom.

OMG...not just the Liberty Bell, but a beautiful building with very nice exhibits. The Liberty Bell itself is a focal point in it's own room that allows you to walk around the bell. This piece of history was certainly a high point of our day.

After a short drive from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on a lovely morning, we were grateful that our GPS easily guided us to the Liberty Bell Center in downtown Philadelphia. We entered the center through a security checkpoint and browsed the informative posters illustrating the historical struggle for liberty and its influence in the United States and around the world. The highlight of our visit was seeing the famous Liberty Bell displayed near the end of the center before exiting. We happily took a memorable photo in front of the bell, both of us smiling. The visit took approximately 45 minutes, including a wait of about 10 minutes in line. The crowd was not as large as we had expected, although many school students were visiting the attraction. Admission was completely free, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful in supervising visitors, while the security personnel took their responsibilities seriously by carefully checking our handbags and purses. The Liberty Bell was undoubtedly the main attraction, drawing visitors of all ages who wanted to see this historic symbol of American independence and take photographs.Overall, it was a worthwhile and memorable historical visit during our trip to Philadelphia!

Visiting the Liberty Bell was such a cool experience! It’s one of those iconic American landmarks that you’ve seen in pictures countless times, but actually standing in front of it and seeing it up close is a completely different experience. We loved learning about the history behind the bell, its significance, and the role it has played as a symbol of American independence and freedom. It’s amazing how something as simple as a bell can carry so much history and meaning. Seeing it in person really makes you appreciate its importance even more! The exhibits surrounding the bell were also a great way to learn more about its story and the events that made it such an important piece of American history. The Liberty Bell is absolutely a must-visit when exploring Philadelphia, whether you’re a history nerd or not! It’s such an iconic landmark, and we’re really glad we took the time to see it for ourselves. Definitely worth adding to your Philly itinerary!

I had limited time in Philly, so this was part of my very short list of things to visit while in the city. Like Independence Hall, if you're visiting Philly, why would you not go and take a look? Neither costs anything to visit. There was a reasonable line to get into the center itself, with security checks on the way in.Once inside there isn't a huge amount to see, you have an exhibit / timeline of the events and history, with the bell itself at the end of the walk. Not somewhere you'd go more than once I imagine, but worth a visit.
