Hollywood Bowl Music Venue ·$$

Perhaps the best way to spend a summer evening in Los Angeles is at this huge amphitheater, the Hollywood Bowl, that offers jazz, pop and classical concerts for the denizens of Los Angeles. The sound quality is excellent from any point, although binoculars are suggested for the seats in the far back. The summer home of the L.A. Philharmonic since 1922 and the home of its very own Hollywood Bowl Orchestra since 1991, numerous guest stars have performed their selections in this much loved, relaxed concert alternative. From the vibrant trumpets and folklórico spirit of Mariachi USA to the soulful, genre-blurring set of Steve Lacy, each night offers its own distinct flavor of magic.

We went there for a live version of the Smartless podcast. The venue is amazing and beautiful on the still warm night we had. There are a range of seating from the up front pool seats to the garden boxes with 4 to 6 seats ana above that the terrace boxes. As you go further up the natural bowl there are individual, mostly bench seats. We had terrace box seats which include two fold down half tables. You can have dinner delivered to the garden and terrace boxes or you can dine at the resturants on property or purchase food to take back to your box. If you are sitting in the. Bench seats there pickanick areas you can use outside the bowl. Baskets and outside food containers are allowed so you can bring your own. We opted for pizza, sandwiches, and drinks at the market to take back to our box. The venue normally openes 2 hours before the show so there is plenty of time to eat and enjoy the venue. There are shuttles since parking is limited an expensive and some are free if you use the metro to get to them (like hollywood and highland). We reserved parking in advance and it was stacked so you have to wait for those in front of you to go before you can leave. We did this but the wait was minimal. Overall a great place to see a live show, music, symphony, etc.

Best sound quality I’ve ever had at a venue. Lots of food options here. Staff was very friendly. Wooden benches are a bit rough but you can rent cushions for $1.

When here recently for the Jack Johnson concert. It was excellent. 17,500 people in one space so expect lines but they flowed. It was just the hills trying to get up with my mom that held us back a little and the uncomfortable seating. But quality of lights and sound in the open air was a great experience we will treasure and happily return.

Came to listen to Tchaikovsly. Circus performance was not appropriate. Did not like it. Separately they are amazing. Just dont match together- classical music and circus.
