Till date it has a stocked a collection of over 20,000 items that put light on the defining moments in Fort Wayne's historical past. The aim is to create an awareness of the history and heritage of the city. The Center over the years, has played host to special events and also hold lectures and talks. tripadvisorMy visit was a positive experience. So much so that we wanted to have a wedding and reception at the facility. What they don't tell you is that they only have 7 parking spaces in the parking lot. The other 70 spaces are owned by the City of Fort Wayne and they park their municipal utility vehicles there. They will not move them for a private event on a weekend, or any other time at the History Center. You can park on the street at meters, 11 I counted, or your guests can find a public parking garage which you pay to park and is a block away and that is if it is not already full. Basically you are being forced to pay for parking . Most businesses that I know of have to have ample parking spaces for the total capacity of the building per city code and ordinance. It is all about the money.

MoreWent the Genealogical Library. Spent hours looking for family info. Librarians were very helpful. The place to go if you enjoy family history or any history.
MoreNice museum on history of Fort Wayne. It is self guided. Three floors. Cook part is jail in basement. A little creepy but fun. This museum in on building of old former courthouse. Some of exhibits need an update and were dusty though
MoreOverall a very nice museum. I didn't know Ft Wayne played a roll in manufacturing copper wire. The jail in the basement was very unique, a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The staff was pleasant.
