Situated across the Third Street of Little Rock, The Gazzette Building is a significant prominent structure. Popularly known as a landmark that represents the Arkansas Gazette newspaper, the interiors accord with the exteriors of the building.
La Petite Roche, French for "Little Rock," is a stone outcropping along the Arkansas River that was named by French explorer Benard de La Harpe. The outcropping was unique enough to be used for navigation and was often used as a boat landing point. When a settlement was established near the rock formation the founders decided to name the town after the landmark. Located in Riverfront Park, this sandstone rock is sometimes also called Point of Rocks.
Aimed at preserving the rich history of Little Rock, the Quapaw Quarter Association through education, marketing and advocacy. Throughout the year this association organizes tours of historic homes, neighborhoods and buildings. Most recently tours have included homes on Skyline Drive and Dooley Road in the Park Hill neighborhood. Visit the website to learn more about upcoming tours and information.
