Situated in Santa Paula, California, the Union Oil Company Building is regarded as the birthplace of the historic Union Oil Company, which started way back in October, 1890. Also referred to as the Santa Paula Hardware Company Building, this historic building served as the main field division office of the company, after the headquarters shifted to LA in 1900. The Union Oil Museum was established in the same building in 1950 and it got listed on the California Historical Landmark and the National Register of Historic Places in the due course. On the occasion of its Centennial Celebration in 1990, the building was restored to its original design and structure, and inaugurated as a brand new state-of-the-art museum, called the California Oil Museum.
