Jack Kerouac was a prolific poet and novelist of the 20th Century. He was one of the pioneers of the Beat Generation, which altered American culture and politics after the World War II. Jack Kerouac House was the home of the author for a short span. After his death, it was left to his mother. This rural-style cottage is where he wrote Dharma Bums. It was only much later in 1997, it was discovered and locals bought the property which was in disrepair. Due to the house's cultural significance, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. Now owned and run by The Kerouac Project as a writers-in-residence, though it is not open to the public, fans of literature make sure to pass through this place as an ode to an American literary giant.
