The City Market in Indianapolis is a popular tourist destination, where thousands of people visit all of the time. Little do they know, underneath their feet and located well underground, lurks the City Market Catacombs. A true hidden gem, its a rusty brick grotto that used to be a public event hall but has since transformed into a historic attraction for curious visitors. Beneath the city streets features a cool area - meats and produce used to be stored here because of the low temperature - and limestone archways. The Catacombs are not easy to find, aren't open to the public and are only available to see through tours. Tours available the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, May through October Tours begin at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1 p.m.
