Jewish Community Center, located in Rochester, N.Y., offers a variety of entertainment, recreational and educational programs to the community. It organizes programs, such as adult education, fitness and exercises, indoor and outdoor recreation, preschool and after school programs, teenage education, arts and cultural arts, and cultural programs. The other programs include classes in dance, functional anatomy, physiology of exercise, body conditioning, yoga, music, and video and theatrical presentation and design. It additionally organizes various camps for individual hobbies, waterfront activities, such as water skiing and sailing, arts and crafts, drama and hiking. Its evening programs include Shabbat services, campfires, theme dances and sporting events. The center also organizes sports competitions, tournaments and award ceremonies.
The historically significant site of the Powers building was constructed in the year 1869. It encompasses a land area of less than one acre. The nine story building structure stood as one of the tallest building sites in that era. It occupies immense importance and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Even with the passing years, the site has maintained its aesthetics intact and remains the same way even today.
