Forty-Mile Loop

The only thing that could improve the Portland Park system is a trail connecting the parks, providing a continuous route encircling the city. In 1999, such a path was completed. This achievement was a 1904 brainchild of the Olmsted brothers, landscape architects for Portland. The 40-mile loop is actually 140 miles of trail. From Kelley Point Park to Powell Butte to Tryon Creek to Forest Park, the four corners of the city are covered. The trail provides access to hiking, biking, canoeing and camping.

The Armory

Portland Center Stage at The Armory was founded in 1988. PCS is the city's leading professional theater company and one of the 20 largest regional theater companies in the United States. Each season, PCS produces a blend of classical, contemporary, and world premiere works, as well as the annual JAW: New Play Festival. We also offer a variety of education and outreach programs, including classes, workshops, live music, and First Thursday events. PCS's home, The Armory, features two theaters, the U.S. Bank Main Stage and the Ellyn Bye Studio. This beautiful historic building was the first building on the National Register of Historic Places, the first performing arts venue in the world, and the first building in Portland to achieve a LEED Platinum rating when it was renovated in 2006. The Armory is available to rent for weddings, conferences, and other special events of all sizes.

Jones Cash Store

Set up as a mail order catalog by entrepreneur Henry J. Ottenheimer, the John Cash Store further expanded its horizons. They have been providing fresh produce and cold storage facilities for decades. The Rose City Storage and Wine Vaults is an extension of the John Cash Store that specializes in wine vaults. A highlighting feature is their climate controlled vaults. They also offer a catalog of moving, packing and shipping supplies. It has been registered as a historically-noteworthy structure by the City of Portland and the State of Oregon.
