Scalzi Park
Scalzi Park is one of the largest parks in Stamford and a favorite with citizens, especially children. Like every park, it has a kids' playground and running tracks, but the Cubeta Stadium located within the park is its highlight. This stadium serves as the home ground of the Stamford American Legion. Scalzi Park also features courts and fields for practicing bocce, handball, basketball, tennis, baseball and volleyball. Spend a leisurely afternoon at the park and lounge in one of the picnic pavilions while reading your favorite book or listening to a popular tune.
This small, triangular park, with its babbling fountain and outdoor stage, hosts the Jazz up July concert series and other events in summer. A few benches surround a statue of Christopher Columbus, while a walk around the park will take you past delightful flowering bushes and beneath the cool shade of a cluster of trees. Surrounded by Washington Boulevard, West Park Place and Main Street, Columbus Park is akin to an oasis of tranquility amidst the hubbub of the city. Although small, the park is a popular meeting point and is a great place to rest your feet for a few minutes.
Chestnut Hill Park is a great place to brig your kids for some after-school fun and bonding with others from the neighborhood. Featuring sets of play equipment for toddlers as well as older kids, you can be sure your child will have an enjoyable time among children of his or her age group. Also consisting of a more challenging set of muscle-stressing activities such as rope climbing, your kids are certain to get the desired amount of physical activity with a great amount of fun.
