The Highlands Scrub Natural area houses a vivid variety of wildlife and plants. It is amongst the natural surviving habitats in South Florida. The area stretches across 34 acres and is ideal for trails, day trips and walks. It also makes for a family-friendly place where you can picnic and enjoy the natural beauty of this habitat. It is best to avoid bringing your pets along as this is a non-pet-friendly zone.

Named after native son, jazz musician, and talented bass player, Jaco Pastorius, this park often hosts concerts and cultural events. Located near Main Street, there is also a large, tribute mural on two of the walls of the community center.
