Amidst the high rise buildings and fancy corporate centers, Washington Square Park is a quiet reminder of peace in Rochester. Dating back to 1817, it is one of the oldest parks of Rochester and also a historical monument. A statue of Abraham Lincoln is the centerpiece of the park. Also, an ancient war cannon placed in the park is a tribute to losses of Civil War. With the stretches of green grass and park benches, it is an idyllic place for some alone time or having a fun picnic with family and friends.
