Perched high up on the mighty Signal Mountain carved out by the meandering Tennessee River, Signal Point is steeped deep in history. During the Civil War, this strategic location was a unique vantage point for the soldiers, and was also used as a source for communication between them and the regions outside. What once formed an integral part of the siege of Chattanooga, is now a destination most favored by the intrepid hiker. Yet a jewel of Chattanooga, Signal Point affords astounding views of the verdant terrains of Raccoon Mountains and the evocative landscapes birthed by the Tennessee River flowing underneath. Also serving as the genesis of the Cumberland Trail, Signal Point witnesses the wild nature unfolding in all its glory.
