Choosing the right moving company can go a long way toward easing the stress of a move. You'll want to confirm that the estimate fits within your budget and that the movers you hire are experienced and professional. To help with that, we've already done much of the research by reviewing and assessing several of the leading moving companies that serve the Burbank area. Our evaluation looked at customer reviews, proper licensing and insurance, Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation and other criteria to build our list of top picks. We also contacted our featured movers to request pricing information and evaluate how they communicate with potential customers.

Top Burbank movers

The best moving company in Burbank for YOU

We understand that selecting the right moving company can be challenging. While we stand behind every mover included on this list, the best option for you will ultimately depend on your specific needs and budget. If storage is part of your plan, focus on companies that provide reliable storage options. If you have large or heavy items that need extra care, choose movers with the proper equipment and experience to handle them. If affordability is your main concern, comparing multiple quotes can help you find the best deal. We recommend contacting at least three movers before making your final choice.

Pure Moving Company is our top pick for the best local mover in Burbank. It has six locations, spread across California, Washington and Oregon. For local moves, you'll be charged an hourly rate, with the cost dependent on the number of movers needed for the job and your method of payment. To move a three-bedroom house, the company recommended a team of four movers, which costs $209 per hour (for card payments) or $194 per hour (for cash payments). You'll also be charged a $39 truck fee that covers the cost of fuel and maintenance. There are no deposit or booking fees to schedule your move.

Simple Moving is another great option for a local mover in Burbank. The company provides moving, packing and storage services to Los Angeles, Orange County and the surrounding areas. Like most other moving companies in the area, Simple Moving also charges two separate hourly rates depending on how you pay. A three-mover crew costs $169 per hour (for card payments) or $159 per hour (for cash payments). There aren't any travel fees for local moves with less than ten miles of travel distance, and you won't be charged a deposit fee to book your move with them.

Pure Moving Company is the best overall Burbank moving company

Two Pure Moving Company crew members unload a heavy item from a truck

Pure Moving Company was founded in 2013 and offers moving, packing and storage services to both residential and commercial customers. The company has six locations in total, with four spread across California and the other two in Seattle and Portland. We called the business to see about getting an estimate on how much it would cost to move a three-bedroom, 1,300-square-foot house locally in Burbank.

When we called the company's main service number, we were connected with Matthew, a sales representative, who took down our information and provided us with a fast quote. Our move would likely require a team of four movers and one truck. You'll be charged an hourly labor rate, but the amount you pay depends on whether you pay with cash or card. In other words, there are two different rates.

The hourly rate for a four-mover team is $209 per hour when paying with card, or $194 per hour when paying with cash. Another mover can be hired for an additional $40 per hour. You'll also pay a $39 service fee, covering the cost of travel and fuel. Keep in mind that California's double drive-time rule (which states that moving companies must compensate workers for twice the drive time it takes to get between locations) only applies to moves that exceed a ten-mile driving distance. This rule did not apply to our move.

The movers will wrap your furniture in plastic wrap and blankets to keep everything protected during transit, and the truck will come loaded with dollies, straps and the tools necessary to disassemble and reassemble your furniture. Wardrobe boxes will be provided free of charge, as requested. There aren't any extra fees for stairs or elevators. However, any items weighing over 300 pounds will incur an additional handling fee.

Services offered

  • Local and long-distance moving

  • Packing and unpacking

  • Storage

  • Commercial moves

  • Heavy and specialty item moving

Since the company has a three-hour minimum, expect to pay at least between $621 and $666 for a team of four movers. One perk is you won't be charged a deposit fee to book your move, and there aren't any hidden cancellation or rescheduling fees. Payments can be made with cash or card. Just note that you can get a cheaper rate when paying with cash. Unfortunately, the company doesn't accept checks as a form of payment. All the movers are background-checked before heading out on their first job.

Pure Moving Company is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating and no filed complaints. It has a 4.9-star rating on Google (2,701 reviews) and a 4.8-star rating on Yelp (2,154 reviews). The company is located at 1601 N Gower St. #205, Los Angeles, Calif., 90028. It is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and closes early at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. To get a quote started, you can visit its website or call 800-816-5121.

Had to move across LA right after New Years and in-between rain showers. Alex and his team arrived ahead of schedule, and took great care with all of my furniture. They were quick to load and unload and were very accommodating with placing the furniture in the new apartment. Everything was wrapped well and efficiently. They even made sure my two cats didn’t try to become escape artists during the move. Thank you so much for all your hard work!

Why they stand out

Pure Moving Company has three different locations in California, with its Los Angeles location being the closest one to Burbank. The company charges different rates depending on how you pay, and they don't accept checks as an acceptable form of payment. However, you won't be charged a deposit fee to book your move. And there aren't any hidden fees for carrying your belongings up stairs or elevators.

Pros

  • Local and long-distance moving
  • Packing and storage
  • Free wardrobe boxes
  • No deposit required

Cons

  • Higher hourly rates for card payments
  • Doesn't accept checks
  • Extra fee for items weighing more than 300 pounds

Simple Moving Company is our top alternative Burbank mover

A Simple Moving Company truck parked in front of a house

A Simple Moving Company truck parked in front of a house

Founded in 2018, Simple Moving Company is located in Los Angeles, offering moving, packing and storage services to residents of Los Angeles, Orange County and surrounding areas. We called the business to get an estimate to move a three-bedroom house within Burbank.

During our call, we spoke with Mark, a sales representative with the company, who was professional and quick in getting us the information we needed. One of the nice things about Simple Moving is that its hourly rates can be found right on its website, so you won't need to make a phone call if you're just looking to compare rates. Just like with other California-based movers, Simple Moving charges two separate hourly rates depending on your method of payment.

A team of three movers costs $169 per hour when paying with card or $159 per hour with cash. If you need four movers, you'll pay $209 per hour with card or $199 per hour with cash. There aren't any travel or fuel fees for moves with a travel distance shorter than ten miles. Moves over ten miles will incur additional fees, and are subject to California's double drive-time law. If you have any items weighing over 300 pounds, you'll be charged an additional $100 per oversize item.

When the movers arrive, they'll wrap all of your furniture in shrink wrap and moving blankets, as well as disassemble and reassemble anything as necessary. The moving truck comes equipped with dollies, straps, tools and any packing supplies needed for the job. Wardrobe boxes are provided for free, but any other packing materials will cost extra. Small boxes can be purchased for $3, medium boxes for $4 and large boxes cost $5.

Services offered

  • Local and long-distance moving

  • Packing and unpacking

  • Storage

  • Commercial moves

  • Heavy and specialty item moving

The company has a three-hour minimum for moving jobs, so expect to pay at least between $477 and $507 for a crew of three movers. The good news is that you won't be charged a deposit or booking fee to schedule your move. All payments can be made with cash or card. Just note that you'll get a cheaper rate if you pay with cash. We were also told that all the movers are trained and background-checked.

Simple Moving Company is not a BBB-accredited business, but it does have an A+ rating and no filed complaints. It has a 4.8-star rating on Google (449 reviews) and a 4.8-star rating on Yelp (1,374 reviews). The business is located at 1919 Vineburn Ave., Ste. 12, Los Angeles, Calif., 90032. It is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You can start a quote by visiting its website or calling 888-588-4118.

Simple Moving did a great job with my move. They were fast and efficient and took good care of everything, meticulously wrapping and protecting artwork and furniture. The only thing that adds a bit of money is if you are moving more than 10 miles, they charge time and a half for the drive time (which I think is required by law). Highly recommend and would definitely use again.

Why they stand out

Simple Moving offers moving and packing services in Los Angeles, Orange County and the surrounding areas. Like many other California-based movers, the company charges different hourly rates depending on how you pay. However, you won't be charged a deposit fee to schedule your move, and shorter-distance moves (less than ten miles) won't incur any travel fees.

Pros

  • Local and long-distance moving
  • Packing services
  • Free wardrobe boxes
  • Price transparency

Cons

  • Doesn't accept checks
  • Higher hourly rates for card payments
  • Extra fee for items weighing more than 300 pounds

BLVD Moving is the best national moving company

A BLVD Moving truck parked in front of a house

A BLVD Moving truck parked in front of a house

At Yahoo Local, our focus is on highlighting exceptional local businesses, but we also recognize that a national moving company can sometimes be the better option, particularly for long-distance moves. After reviewing several nationwide providers, we chose BLVD Moving as our top pick among the best national movers . If you're deciding between a local or national company, our detailed comparison guide can help clarify your options.

BLVD Moving is led by a team of seasoned professionals with decades of experience in the moving industry. Although the company currently operates only four offices in California, it offers both local and long-distance moving services across the country. As a family-owned and independently operated business, BLVD oversees its own fleet and employs full-time moving crews. That said, its policies note that subcontractors or agents may occasionally be used during peak demand, which is a standard industry practice worth keeping in mind.

To better understand costs, we requested a quote for a 500-mile move involving roughly 1,340 cubic feet of household items, which is about what you'd expect from a three-bedroom home without major appliances. The estimate came in at approximately $6,700, which is consistent with rates from other long-distance movers. To secure a booking, BLVD requires a 33% deposit, with half of the remaining balance due at pickup and the final portion paid upon delivery.

Services offered

  • Local and long-distance moves

  • Residential, office and commercial moves

  • Packing services

  • Storage

  • Financing

If plans change, deposits are fully refundable as long as you notify the company at least two business days before pickup. Delivery windows range from two to 21 business days depending on distance, starting from the delivery date you select. For longer moves, this can mean total transit times of just over a month.

BLVD advises booking your move at least 30 days in advance, and even earlier during busy periods like summer or around the beginning and end of the month. (For more tips, see our guide on the best and worst times to move .) Getting an estimate is straightforward—customers can complete an online inventory form or schedule a virtual walkthrough to speed things up. Financing options are also available, with qualified customers eligible for interest rates starting at 0%.

BLVD Moving is accredited by the BBB with a B rating and has 98 complaints on record, which is typical for a national mover of its size. The company holds an average rating of 4.5 stars on Google (based on 1,506 reviews) and 2.4 stars on Yelp (386 reviews). All movers are direct, full-time employees who undergo background checks rather than independent contractors.

BLVD's headquarters are located at 21622 Plummer St., Chatsworth, Calif., 91311. Business hours run daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. To request a quote, you can call 844-274-0500 or submit your information online.

Kevin and his team were absolutely amazing! From start to finish, they were professional, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was handled smoothly and exceeded my expectations in every way. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for quality and reliability.

Why they stand out

BLVD Moving is our top pick for a national mover due to its combination of experience, flexibility and relatively strong Google reviews. It has background-checked crews, but it also reserves the right in its terms and conditions to subcontract your move or assign it to agents. The quote process is smooth, in our experience, requiring a simple online inventory, and BLVD's cancellation policy is relatively good.

Pros

  • Has its own movers and fleet
  • Background-checked crews
  • Local and long-distance moves
  • Offers virtual estimates

Cons

  • Can subcontract jobs to other movers
  • Relatively high deposit
  • No GPS tracking
  • Mixed Yelp ratings

Gregory and Alex arrived in a timely manner and did a phenomenal job moving my things. They handled everything with extreme care, and my things arrived in good condition, including a 79” TV that I was initially worried about. I was able to sit back and relax while they took care of everything for what would’ve been a stressful move. I would recommend them for a future move!

Why they stand out

Royal Moving and Storage provides a wide range of moving and relocation services throughout the Los Angeles area. For local moves, the company uses two different hourly rates, with a higher rate applied when customers pay by credit or debit card. Travel costs can be a bit higher due to California’s double drive time rule. On the plus side, no deposit is required for local moves.

Pros

  • Local and long-distance moving
  • Packing and storage
  • No deposit fees for local moves
  • No extra charge for stairs or elevators
  • Free wardrobe boxes

Cons

  • Higher hourly rate for card payments
  • Long-distance moves require a 50% down payment
  • Travel costs can get pricey

Soooo easy! Adept was on time and took on any and all challenges. Viktor, Carlos, and Alex were amazing! They were great at communicating, got everything out and in safely. They carefully wrapped all of our stuff, made sure it went into the right rooms, and Victor was super honest and helpful. They did it all with a smile even through the rain, with the narrowest staircase ever, and on a busy and narrow street with no parking! Will definitely use Adept in the future. Thank you, guys, much appreciated!!!

Why they stand out

Adept Moving offers residential and commercial moving services in and around Los Angeles. You can also hire them to help with packing and labor-only services. Depending on the job, you might even be able to book them for last-minute assistance.

Pros

  • Local and long-distance moving
  • Packing and unpacking
  • Same-day moving services

Cons

  • Doesn't accept checks

California moving FAQs

What info should you have when requesting an estimate?

The details required for a moving estimate can vary from company to company based on how thorough their pricing process is. Some movers request only basic information, such as your home's square footage, number of bedrooms, and the pickup and delivery locations. Others may wait to provide a quote until they've reviewed a complete inventory of all the items you plan to move .

At a minimum, be prepared to share the size of both your current and new homes, the exact addresses, and details about any large or specialty items that might need special handling. Many movers apply extra charges for items that exceed certain weight limits, so providing this information early can help you avoid surprise fees. You should also mention whether either property has stairs or elevators, as movers often add additional costs for those features.

What should you know about packing and storage in California?

California generally experiences warmer temperatures for much of the year. In Burbank, for instance, average annual temperatures usually fall between 46°F to 88°F and is rarely below 39°F or above 97°F, according to Weather Spark .

Heat-sensitive belongings such as electronics, art supplies, synthetic fabrics, cosmetics, and medications should be transported in a climate-controlled vehicle to prevent damage. If you'll need storage, choosing an indoor or climate-controlled unit is a smart investment to help protect these items.

What's different about condo and apartment moving in California?

Relocating to or from an apartment or condo often involves navigating stairs. Many movers apply additional fees for carrying belongings up several flights, and some also charge extra for elevator use. While one flight of stairs may not result in an added cost, units on the third floor or higher typically come with an additional surcharge.

Do you need moving permits or licenses to move in California?

All moving companies that operate within California are required to hold a Household Mover Permit, often called a Cal-T number, which is issued by the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS). This rule is strictly enforced to protect consumers from unlicensed movers who may not follow proper procedures or maintain adequate insurance coverage. Licensed movers in California must also display their Cal-T number on all advertisements, websites, vehicles, and contracts.

For more details, see our complete guide to California's moving company licensing and regulations .

How much should you tip movers in California?

A typical rule of thumb for tipping movers is to give between 10% and 20% of your total moving cost . This guideline applies to both local and long-distance moves. That said, tipping is entirely optional; it's simply a way to show appreciation for quality service. If the movers fall short of your expectations, you're not required to leave a tip.
