We then called the top companies on the list to ask about pricing and to get a feel for how they treat customers.

The best moving company in Little Rock for YOU
Choosing the right moving company can seem like a big challenge. While we stand behind every mover listed here, the ideal choice will be the one that matches your specific needs and budget. If storage is a requirement, focus on movers that offer storage options. Dealing with bulky or oversized items that require extra strength? Opt for companies equipped with the right tools for heavy lifting. If saving money is most important, compare multiple estimates to find the mover with the best rate. We suggest contacting at least three movers before making your decision.
College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving (Little Rock) is a great option for professional movers in the Little Rock area. This location requires you to schedule an on-site survey of your home, where a representative will take an inventory of your belongings to determine how many furniture items and boxes will be moved, as well as the number of movers necessary for the job. We were able to get around this required visit by asking to speak with the local franchise manager, but just know this isn't the normal procedure. They charge $199 per hour for a crew of three movers and one truck.
Fixed Rate Moving is another Little Rock moving company worth considering. To move our three-bedroom house, we were quoted an hourly rate of $175. This price tag includes the cost of three movers and one truck. There aren't any travel, fuel or deposit fees attached. The hourly rate is what you'll pay for everything. However, they do have a three-hour minimum, so expect to spend at least $525 at this price point.

College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving is the best overall Little Rock moving company
Four College Hunks crew members pose for a picture in a moving truck
You've likely heard of College Hunks before. It's a moving franchise with over 200 locations across the U.S., and steadily growing. The College Hunks location in Little Rock ranked at the top of our list for the best movers in the area. You can hire them for local and long-distance moving services, packing, junk removal and labor-only services. This particular location also specializes in moving hot tubs.
The tricky thing with this location is that you'll need to schedule an in-person visit to your home before pricing is discussed. In other words, you can't get an estimate over the phone. During the visit, a College Hunks representative will visit your home to take an inventory of your belongings. This lets them accurately calculate the number of movers and trucks that will be needed for the job.
We were able to get around an in-person visit by requesting to speak with the franchise location's manager, who was able to get us an estimate over the phone. To move our three-bedroom, 1,400-square-foot house, we were given a ballpark estimate between $1,492 and $1,890. This price range includes the hourly rate for three movers ($199 per hour), a 26-foot truck and a $209 travel and fuel charge (priced based on distance). The movers arrive with furniture wrap, blankets, tools and padding to protect doorframes.
There's a $99 deposit fee to book a local move. For long-distance moves, you'll need to make a 10% down payment. The deposit is fully refundable up to 48 hours before your scheduled move date. College Hunks has a two-hour minimum for moving jobs, so for a local move with three movers, you're going to spend at least $497. Keep in mind this figure doesn't include the travel fee, which is calculated based on the distance between the pick-up and drop-off locations.

Fixed Rate Moving is our top alternative Little Rock mover
Three Fixed Rate Moving crew members working together to move a heavy item
Open for nearly 20 years, Fixed Rate Moving has two locations in Little Rock, offering local and long-distance moving services. We called the business to get an idea of how much it would cost to move our three-bedroom, 1,400-square-foot house within the local area.
During our call, we spoke with the business owner, Jeff Byers, who was informative and straight to the point. One thing we really appreciated was the price transparency. Nearly every cost associated with the move was either included in the hourly rate or disclosed to us upfront. For our move, we were estimated an hourly rate of $175 per hour of labor. This price includes a crew of three movers and a 26-foot truck.
There aren't any additional travel, fuel or deposit fees that you'll need to worry about. Whatever hourly rate you're quoted is what you'll pay. However, if you have any specialty items like a piano, gun safe or hot tub, there will be an extra charge for those items. It's also worth noting that they have a three-hour minimum for moving jobs, so with the rate we were given, we'd be spending at least $525.
You don't need to put any money down to book your move, but Jeff told us he'd like to be informed of a potential cancellation as soon as possible. Payment is taken after the move is complete. You can pay with cash, card or check. Note that there is a 3% processing fee for all credit and debit card transactions. The moving crew works on a full-time basis with the business. While we didn't receive a concrete answer regarding the movers being background-checked, Jeff told us he's been working with the same guys for a while and that they know what they're doing.

Highly recommended Fixed Rate Moving! I had a midday move scheduled and the guys called about 1.5 hours ahead to give me a timeline of their arrival and then called again when they were on their way. They were very polite, friendly, and helpful. I have a few antique furniture pieces and they handled each piece with such care. The rate was exactly what I was quoted. There were no surprise charges. - Shea J., Google reviews (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

BLVD Moving is the best national moving company
The BLVD Moving crew prepares to load a moving truck
At Yahoo Local, we strive to spotlight outstanding local businesses, but we also recognize that national moving companies can sometimes be the better fit, especially for long-distance relocations. After evaluating several national providers, we selected BLVD Moving as the top choice among our best national moving companies . (For full details on how we make these decisions, see our guide to comparing local and national movers .)
BLVD Moving was founded by seasoned professionals in the moving industry. The company manages both local and cross-country moves across the U.S. Family-owned and independently run, BLVD operates its own trucks and staff, though its service terms note that subcontractors or agents may occasionally be used — a standard practice among larger providers that handle high volumes of moves.
When we spoke with BLVD's team, we requested an estimate for a 500-mile move with a load size of about 1,340 cubic feet (roughly equal to a three-bedroom home without major appliances). The quote came to around $6,700, a price consistent with other long-distance movers. BLVD requires a 33% deposit upfront, followed by 50% of the remaining balance at pickup, with the final payment due upon delivery. Financing is also available for eligible customers, with rates as low as 0% APR.
Services offered
-
Local and interstate moves
-
Residential, office and commercial relocations
-
Packing services
-
Storage options
-
Financing available
Although the deposit may feel high, it is fully refundable if you cancel at least two business days before your scheduled pickup. Keep in mind that BLVD's delivery window ranges from two to 21 business days, which may mean waiting a few weeks for your belongings. While not ideal, this is standard for national movers that transport multiple shipments at once.
To lock in your preferred moving dates, we recommend booking at least 30 days ahead of time, particularly during peak moving seasons such as summer, fall, or the start or end of a month. (For additional planning tips, see our guide on the best times to move .) Getting a BLVD quote is simple. You'll fill out an online inventory form, arrange a virtual walkthrough or call directly.
BLVD Moving is BBB-accredited with a B+ rating . In the past three years, the company has received 89 complaints, which is typical for a national provider. Customer reviews average 4.3 stars on Google (from more than 1,224 reviews) and 2.3 stars on Yelp (from over 372 reviews). While its Yelp score is low, BLVD remains our top pick among national moving companies. All BLVD movers are direct employees who undergo background checks and company training.
BLVD Moving's headquarters is located at 21622 Plummer Street, Chatsworth, Calif., 91311. Business hours run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, seven days a week. To learn more, call 844-274-0500 or request a free moving quote online .

It has background-checked crews, but it also reserves the right in its terms and conditions to subcontract your move or assign it to agents. The quote process is smooth, in our experience, requiring a simple online inventory, and BLVD's cancellation policy is relatively good.

Arkansas moving FAQs
What info should you have when requesting an estimate?
What's needed to receive a moving estimate varies by company and depends on how detailed its estimation process is. Some movers request only basic details such as your home's square footage, number of bedrooms and the pickup and drop-off addresses. Others won't issue a quote until they've reviewed a full inventory of everything you plan to move .
At a minimum, expect to provide the size of both your current and new homes, the addresses, and whether you own any large or specialty items (like pianos, gun safes or major appliances) that require special handling. Many movers charge additional fees for items that exceed certain weight limits, so sharing that information upfront can help you avoid surprise costs. It's equally important to mention if either location has stairs or elevators, as movers often include extra charges for those situations.
What should you know about packing and storage in Arkansas?
Arkansas experiences all four seasons, but average temperatures tend to lean toward the warmer side of things. In Little Rock, for example, summer highs are typically in the 90s Fahrenheit, while winter lows average in the 30s, according to U.S. Climate Data .
Items such as electronics, artwork, cosmetics, plastics, and medications are vulnerable to damage from extreme hot and cold temperatures. To keep them safe, it's best to transport them in a climate-controlled vehicle. If storage is required, investing in an indoor or temperature-regulated unit is a smart option.
What's different about condo and apartment moving in Arkansas?
When relocating to or from an apartment or condo , it's common to deal with stairs. Many moving companies apply additional fees for carrying belongings up multiple flights, and some also add a charge for elevator use. In certain cases, pricing is based on the total number of steps climbed, though policies differ from one mover to another. You might not be billed for a single flight of stairs, but if your home is on the third floor or higher, there's a strong chance you'll face an added cost.
Do you need moving permits or licenses to move in Arkansas?
Yes, all moving companies operating within Arkansas must obtain an Intrastate Operating Authority (or a Household Goods Carrier Permit) before conducting moves. Licensing is managed by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), with the ARDOT Legal Division overseeing the Intrastate Motor Carrier Authority. For more details, check out our in-depth guide on moving company licensing and regulations in Arkansas .
How much should you tip movers in Arkansas?
As a general rule of thumb for tipping movers, you should aim to tip between 10% and 20% of your total moving cost . This applies to both local and long-distance moves. That said, tipping is not required. It's your way of showing gratitude for the service received. If the service falls short of your expectations, you're under no obligation to leave a tip.
