The best plumbing company in Austin for YOU
While we stand behind every plumbing company included on our list, there's no single option that's the "best" fit for everyone. The right plumber for you will be the one that aligns with your specific needs and budget. For instance, if you require emergency assistance, prioritize companies that offer 24/7 service and can respond right away. Or you may be looking for a particular service, such as water line repairs or water heater servicing. In that case, it's best to focus on plumbers who specialize in that line of work. It's also important to keep in mind that many plumbing companies charge a diagnostic fee, which can make requesting multiple estimates expensive. That's why it's especially important to choose a plumber who can meet your exact requirements from the start.
Looking to get your plumbing issue resolved as soon as possible? Both Airco or Parobek Plumbing and Air Conditioning aim to provide same-day service whenever possible. If it's an emergency, you might have better luck calling Crow's Plumbing service , as they have 24/7 support for any plumbing emergencies that you might be having before or after standard business hours. However, keep in mind that all three of these companies won't talk pricing with you over the phone. For anyone looking to get a quick ballpark estimate over the phone, Cold Is On The Right will help you crunch the numbers within minutes.

Airco is the best overall Austin plumbing company

An Airco company truck parked in a driveway at a residential property
Airco has been around for more than 40 years, offering a mixture of plumbing, HVAC and electrical services in Austin and the surrounding areas. While most of its customer reviews center around HVAC maintenance and installation, Airco is equipped to handle both residential and commercial plumbing jobs. This could be anything from a leaky bathroom pipe to a full-blown construction project.
We called Airco (as well as our other three featured plumbers) asking for an estimate on how much it would cost to unclog a typical household shower drain. The representative we spoke with on the phone was polite, professional and did their best to answer our specific questions.
The company doesn't give out any estimates or pricing details over the phone. Instead, you'll need to schedule some time for a representative to visit your home to physically diagnose your plumbing issue. The good news is that, unlike other plumbing companies, you won't be charged any booking or diagnostic fees. And you'll be charged at a flat rate vs. an hourly rate.
Services offered
-
Residential and commercial plumbing
-
Drain and sewer services
-
Sump pump repair and installation
-
HVAC services
-
Home electrical services
-
EV charger installation
You can receive same-day service for your plumbing problems. However, if you're having a plumbing emergency outside of normal business hours, there's a chance you'll be charged extra. When asked about the typical arrival window, the representative told us it really depends on the job, but they aim to get someone out to you as soon as possible.
There isn't any sort of warranty or workmanship guarantee for clogged drains, as the company can't control what you choose to put down your drain after they leave. However, any job where there are materials or installation involved will include a one-year warranty. We were also told that all of Airco's plumbers are full-time employees who have been trained and background-checked prior to starting work. They also offer financing through Service Financing .
Airco is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating and two complaints on file. It has a 4.8-star rating on Google (931 reviews) and a 4.6-star rating on Yelp (249 reviews). The company is open 24/7.

The whole process was quick and easy thanks to their professional and experienced team.

Crow's Plumbing Service is the top alternative Austin plumbing company

The Crow's Plumbing Service team in a group picture
Opening in 2003 and serving the greater Austin area, Crow's Plumbing is known for its residential plumbing services, including work with piping, drains, sewer lines, and water heaters. For our purposes, we called the business about a clogged shower drain.
When we called, we spoke with Karen, a dispatch representative who's been with the company for seven years. Karen was kind and incredibly knowledgeable about various types of plumbing issues. Note that if a representative can't answer your call, you'll be forwarded to a virtual AI bot that will take down your personal information and will attempt to either get something scheduled for you or have a representative give you a call back at a later time.
Luckily for us, plumbers at Crow's have tons of experience handling clogs. Karen told us that the business handles all sorts of clogged drains from houses and commercial businesses. The downside is that they don't give any estimates or pricing information over the phone. A representative will need to take a look at your plumbing issue in person, which will incur a $75 diagnostic fee. This fee is non-refundable. Once a plumber has assessed the issue, they'll provide you with a written estimate, charged at a flat rate.
Services offered
-
Leak and pipe repair
-
Repiping
-
Drain and sewer services
-
Sewer line replacement
-
Water heater repair and replacement
-
Water purification systems
The company does offer 24/7 emergency plumbing service, so if you need your issue addressed urgently, it's possible to get same-day service. Non-emergency jobs will be scheduled for the next business day. The arrival window can be as early as the first appointment of the morning, so long as you'll be home.
While there isn't a warranty or workmanship guarantee offered for clogged drains, Crow's will follow up the unclogging process with a free camera inspection of the drain to make sure everything is all good. Seeing as this is a service that usually costs hundreds of dollars, it's nice to see a plumbing company going above and beyond. There's also a one-year warranty for any job that involves company-provided materials or installation. We were also told that every plumber on staff is a full-time employee who has passed a background check.
Crow's Plumbing Service is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating and zero filed complaints. It has a 4.9-star rating (2,138 reviews) on Google and a 4.3-star rating (82 reviews) on Yelp. The business is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed on the weekends. However, emergency services are available 24/7, regardless of business hours.

Parobek Plumbing and Air Conditioning is the best Austin plumbing company for service variety

The Parobek Plumbing & Air Conditioning team
Founded in 2001, Parobek offers plumbing and HVAC services to Bastrop, Texas, and the surrounding areas. The company offers an impressive amount of services, from plumbing and HVAC to gas line well pump projects, there's really nothing they can't handle. We called the business to see how much they would charge us to unclog a household shower drain.
When we called the main service number, we spoke with Michelle, a sales representative with the company, who was friendly and happy to help. Note that the first time we called, we were forwarded to an AI phone assistant, which was not disclosed at all during the conversation. If a representative is not available to answer the phone, you'll end up speaking with the bot.
Like most plumbing companies, a representative will need to physically visit your home to diagnose the issue, but we were told over the phone that drain unclogging services start at $53. The diagnostic fee for residential customers is $75 (or $150 for commercial customers). Either way, this fee is non-refundable. Financing is available for larger jobs where you aren't able to pay all at once.
Whatever you end up paying will be billed at a flat rate, covering labor and materials. Same-day service is available or you can schedule an appointment for a later date. The arrival window of when your plumber will show up at your home varies based on the job. However, you should receive a phone call when someone is on their way.
Services offered
-
Residential and commercial plumbing
-
Drain and sewer work
-
Gas line services
-
HVAC services
-
Well pump services
-
Water filtration systems

Warranty and workmanship guarantee details also depend on the job. Your plumber will go over what's covered for your specific job during the diagnosis process. The company offers a one to two-year warranty for any job involving materials or installation. Additionally, all the plumbers on staff are full-time, background-checked employees.
Parobek is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating and two filed complaints. It has a 4.9-star rating on Google (3,803 reviews) and a 4.2-star rating on Yelp (101 reviews). The business is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends.

We’ve had a great experience with Parobek. We had two emergency needs pretty much back to back unexpected — once for a plumbing unclogging and repair, and another time for heater maintenance — and both times went smoothly. They were upfront about the plan for the day and the costs, with no pushy sales tactics or pressure to add services we didn’t need. Everyone was friendly and took the time to explain what they were doing, which made the whole process easy and stress-free. Big thanks to Derrick, Jeff, and Cody, as well as the dispatch team, for the great communication and service.
Why they stand out
Parobek services Bastrop and the surrounding areas, offering plumbing and HVAC services. Like many plumbing companies, a technician will need to physically visit your home in order to give you an estimate. There is a $75 diagnostic fee required, but they do charge a flat rate for plumbing services, and it's possible to get same-day service.
Pros
- Residential and commercial plumbing
- Flat-rate pricing
- Same-day service available
Cons
- Diagnostic fee required

Cold Is On The Right is the best Austin plumbing company for quick ballpark pricing

The Cold Is On The Right team in a group picture
Beyond having a clever business name, Cold Is On The Right offers plumbing and HVAC services to residents of Austin. Whether you need your entire home repiped or just have a tiny leak that needs patching, there are plenty of experienced plumbers on staff to assist you. Just like with the other plumbers we called, we asked for an estimate on a clogged shower drain.
During our phone call, we spoke with Sydney, a dispatcher with the company, who was friendly, helpful and sympathetic to our issue. The company does offer ballpark estimates over the phone, but in order to get an accurate quote, a representative will need to come out and take a look at the problem. The estimate we were given over the phone was between $255 and $275 to get the drain cleared.
Everything is charged at a flat rate, but you'll have to pay a (non-refundable) $99 diagnostic fee to have your plumbing issue assessed. Same-day service appointments are only available on occasion, so if you need service immediately, you'll just have to get lucky. In most cases, you'll need to schedule an appointment for as early as the next day. Arrival windows are either any time before or after 12 p.m. It's up to you to decide whether you want a morning or afternoon appointment.
Services offered
-
Residential and commercial plumbing
-
HVAC services
-
Piping
-
Leaks and fixtures
-
Water heater repair and replacement

Like with most plumbing companies, you won't find any warranties or guarantees for a clogged drain here. However, jobs involving materials or installation come backed by a two-year warranty. Every plumber on staff works with the company full-time, and they are all background-checked before starting their first job. We were also told that the majority of the plumbers on staff are Journeyman plumbers, who are often accompanied by apprentices to every job. A few Master plumbers are also working with the company.
Cold Is On The Right is not a BBB-accredited business , but it does have an A+ rating and only one filed complaint. It has a 4.8-star rating on Google (227 reviews) and a 4.6-star rating on Yelp (109 reviews). Business hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Needed a new water heater in a small space, and had a couple company’s come out for quotes. These guys were by far the best! They were at my residence for an hour and half on the initial cost going over every possible option and scenario. They were very thorough and helpful during the entire process! Can’t recommend these guys enough. Will definitely be my new go to plumbing company.

Texas plumbing FAQs
What are the most common issues people call plumbers to fix?
Clogged drains and leaks are among the most frequent plumbing problems homeowners face. That said, plumbers are also often called to address issues with water heaters and low or inconsistent water pressure.
How can I tell if I can fix a plumbing issue myself or if I should call a professional?
Only you can decide whether you have the skills or experience needed to handle a specific plumbing problem. Minor issues like clogged drains are often manageable on your own . But if store-bought drain cleaners or a drain snake don't solve the problem, it's probably time to bring in a professional. The same goes for a running toilet. Simple fixes like replacing the flapper or chain can often be done yourself . If you're not particularly handy or you're unsure what you're doing, there's nothing wrong with calling a plumber to take care of the issue for you.
Is it better to go with a smaller plumbing company or a larger one?
No single type of plumbing company is automatically better than another. Smaller businesses often provide more personalized service and may charge less, while larger companies are usually more established, offering broader availability, a wider range of services, and potentially stronger warranties. Regardless of which type you prefer, it's a good idea to contact several companies and compare multiple estimates before deciding.
Do plumbing companies in Austin need to be licensed?
Yes, plumbers in Austin must obtain a Texas state plumbing license from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) before starting any type of contract work. The board also has a handy search tool that allows you to verify whether or not your plumber is licensed.
Do all reputable plumbers do background checks?
Not all plumbing companies perform background checks on their employees or contractors. That said, those who do are often viewed as more trustworthy. In addition, plumbers who hold proper licenses may have already completed background screenings as part of the state licensing process.
Do plumbers usually charge by the hour or flat rate?
It really depends on the plumber, and sometimes even the specific job. While most tend to favor flat-rate pricing, some plumbers will charge an hourly labor rate plus the cost for materials. Simpler jobs like clogged drains or running toilets are more likely to be charged on a one-time, flat-rate basis. Larger jobs that require more time, like sewer line replacements or major pipe replacements, may be charged by the hour.
Should plumbers provide written estimates before beginning a job?
Pricing can vary depending on the plumber and, in some cases, the type of work being done. While many plumbers prefer flat-rate pricing, others charge an hourly labor fee in addition to the cost of materials. Smaller, straightforward jobs—such as fixing clogged drains or a running toilet—are often billed at a single flat rate. More involved projects that take longer, like sewer line repairs or extensive pipe replacements, are more likely to be charged on an hourly basis.
Do plumbers usually offer warranties?
Yes, it's common for plumbers to offer a warranty or workmanship guarantee on their services, though not every type of job is covered. Tasks like drain cleaning or clearing clogs are often excluded, since plumbers can't control what goes down your drains after the work is completed. Projects that involve supplying materials, such as replacing fixtures or pipes, are more likely to include a warranty.
