Another smooth experience with Price Busters. After a different plumbing company skipped their scheduled visit to repair our cracked pipe, I reached out to Price Busters instead. Nick and Vlad showed up right on time, were incredibly courteous, and clearly explained what needed to be done. About 45 minutes later, the pipe was fixed and everything was back to normal. Steve and his team did a great job. They installed a new water service to my house. That was a very difficult project. They use their specialized auger to precisely drill. A new water line that was over 100 feet in length and under a creek and also under my deck in the front yard that was about 20 feet wide at the area where they had to go under without disturbing any of the supports. They were able to complete the job in one day and they have another happy customer.

I had a common problem with a clogged sink, and another company couldn't fix it, trying to charge me double. Mike's plumbing came in, fixed the issue, and had some great suggestions for a few other matters my house has. I'll definitely call them again! Nice guys, super friendly, and arrived on time. They were also nice to my giant pup; can't beat that!

Washington plumbing FAQs
How do I know if my water heater needs repairs or a full replacement?
If you're having problems with your water heater, the best way to diagnose the problem is to call a professional plumber who specializes in water heater maintenance and repairs. Water heaters are complex, and figuring out what kind of work is needed will be tricky without an opinion from a pro. That said, you can start by checking out these eight signs you need to replace your water heater .
How long does a water heater typically last in Washington?
Average water heater lifespans vary from about eight years to about 20 years, depending on the model, brand and type. Tank-style water heaters tend to fail sooner, while tankless models can easily last 15 to 20 years if properly maintained. Maintenance is a huge part of maximizing the lifespan of a water heater, and tanks that aren't well taken care of may fail prematurely.
What are the most common issues people call plumbers to fix?
Some common household plumbing issues include clogged drains, running toilets, low water pressure and hot water heater issues. Leaky faucets and burst pipes (especially in winter) are also high up on the list.
How can I tell if I can fix a plumbing issue myself or if I should call a pro?
Some minor plumbing issues, like leaky faucets and running toilets, can be fixed on your own with basic tools and problem-solving skills. Anything major — like a malfunctioning water heater or a sewer backup — will definitely require the help of a pro (unless you happen to have professional plumbing experience in your back pocket).
If you're ready to dive into a plumbing project on your own, here are the DIY plumbing tools you should have on hand.
Is it better to go with a smaller plumbing company or a larger one?
Generally speaking, smaller, locally owned plumbing companies can offer the kind of flexible, personalized service (and hands-on customer service) that a larger company may not be able to provide. This is why Yahoo Local is so passionate about recommending local service providers. Plus, our research typically shows that local contractors rank more highly in terms of customer feedback than larger contractors. However, hiring a larger plumbing company may be a good idea if you're having trouble finding the services you need from a local plumber, especially if you're dealing with a plumbing emergency or working on a tight timeline.
Do plumbing companies in Washington need to be licensed?
Yes. Plumbers in Washington must be registered as specialty contractors with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries, and they must also be certified by the Washington State Plumber Certification Program. For more information, see our detailed guide to Washington state plumbing regulations .
Do all reputable plumbers do background checks?
No. Many plumbing companies forego employee background checks, but this is not necessarily a red flag. Family-owned and -operated businesses are common in the plumbing industry, and the owners of these businesses often find it unnecessary to background check their employees due to already knowing and trusting them. Other plumbing companies may be more concerned with a plumbing technician's training, credentials and experience than anything else. In most U.S. states, plumbers must undergo extensive training and testing to begin working professionally, which helps reduce the risk of untrustworthy plumbers.
Do plumbers usually charge by the hour or flat rate?
Based on Yahoo Local's research, most plumbers charge flat rates for their services. In some cases, customers may be charged for time and materials instead, but this is much less common and usually only applies to larger, more complex projects.
Should plumbers provide written estimates before beginning a job?
Yes. All contractors, including plumbers, should provide written documentation of estimates, services guarantees, warranties and any other information relevant to the service. If your plumber does not provide a written estimate, you can request one. If they do not want to provide one, this is a good reason to look for a different plumber.
Do plumbers usually offer warranties? And if so, what kind?
This depends on the plumbing service being offered. While plumbers do typically offer warranties for services that involve the installation of new parts, appliances or fixtures, they may not warranty service-only projects like drain clearings. However, many plumbers offer service guarantees in place of warranties, promising to stand by their work if a drain clog returns within a certain timeframe, for example. Before hiring a plumber, ask about both warranties and service guarantees. It's a very good sign when plumbers offer both.
