Greg also had a home in the 2006 and 2007 Fall Builders Showcase. In addition to being the general contractor of a project, Greg is a hands-on builder. He concentrates on quality building and attention to detail. He helps frame the home, does all of his own ceramic work, finish carpentry and punch-out. Greg prefers to keep the scope of his work limited to projects he can participate in, assuring a quality finished product. Finish carpentry is Greg's specialty. Before he started building his own homes, he worked as a sub-contractor for other builders as a finish carpenter. He also worked for two years as a job superintendent for one of the largest builders in the area. Greg still does a limited amount of finish carpentry for other builders as well as some remodeling. Greg is a life-long resident of the Kalamazoo area. He was co-owner of a commercial and residential painting company for five years before getting into the building industry. Before owning his own business, Greg worked for six years in apartment maintenance, where he got hands-on experience repairing and replacing everything from drywall to backflow preventers to floor covering.
