n 1978, Judy and Floyd Anderson crammed their family and their belongings into their car and did what Americans have been doing for more than 200 years – they headed west to chase a dream. What that dream was, they’d figure out later: they had more important things to worry about. About to embark on a cross country move from Buffalo, New York, to Phoenix, Arizona with their four young daughters, Debbie, Linda, Sherri and Jami in the backseat, Judy and Floyd were occupied with bigger concerns like “How are we going to support ourselves?” and “Are we crazy?” Steeled against a constant barrage of “Are we there yet?” Judy and Floyd discussed their destiny on the drive west. As mile after mile rolled on beneath their tires and they watched the temperature creep higher and higher, the Andersons decided that once they had settled in Arizona, they would open a restaurant.

My mother has lovingly crafted the décor, infusing each corner with personal touches that reflect our family’s story. Many of the items adorning our walls have been gifted by our cherished regulars, each piece telling a story and adding to the rich tapestry of our café’s history. We believe in more than just serving food; we strive to create an experience that feels like home. Our dedicated staff shares this vision, treating every guest with kindness and ensuring the highest quality in every dish. The Vig
Designed from the ground up, the new outpost features a custom-built ranch house-inspired interior where guests will find signature VIG elements including a striking copper-topped bar and luxurious banquette seating. The “Mesa Modern” theme showcases custom tilework, old west-style leather, and stylish lighting throughout. The thoughtful layout flows seamlessly from intimate ambiance into the sprawling 2,500-square foot patio. Surrounded by verdant Arizona landscaping and shaded by artful trellises, guests can eat, sip, and linger here in comfort. Led by Culinary Director and Arizona native Chef Jeremy Pacheco, the VIG Dana Park offers a full-service menu of elevated favorites for lunch and dinner daily, as well as weekend brunch and weekday happy hour from 3-6 pm. The Neighborhood features menu showcases chef-inspired dishes created with a nod to seasonal ingredients and local tradition. The VIG Dana Park offers summer specials beginning on opening day: a $14 lunch menu Monday-Friday from 11 am - 3 pm; daily $6 Espresso Martinis, House Margaritas and Tito’s Vodka; Genuine Cheeseburger and a draft beer for $15 on Mondays after 3 pm; and weekend bottomless brunch drinks for $25.
