Balboa Saloon

Balboa Saloon has established itself as one of the most popular watering holes in Orange County with plenty of beer, music and friendly faces to talk to. You can pair your spirit with a tasty sider like a sandwich or a pizza. The interiors are rather fascinating but if you are squeamish about huge sea animals that have paid a trip to the friendly neighborhood taxidermist, you might not like all the stuffed sharks adorning the walls. However, it adds a touch of the nautical to this Balboa Island bar. Cheer on your favorite team whilst you watch them play on television, or indulge in a fun game of darts if you so please.

Crystal Cove Shake Shack

Ruby's Shake Shack has been around since the 1940's. It is a little hidden from the road, but the crowd of vehicles parked in front makes it easily visible. As the name implies, the shack is about milkshakes, and it's originally famous for the date shake, which is so thick it makes a straw practically useless. The best part of the Shake Shack, though, is their outdoor benches. Although rustic, these benches on the bluff top of a secluded area provide the best spot for sunset watching.
