The Mont
Established in 1978, The Mont Restaurant replaced the historically popular The Monterrey that was established in 1920s by the Charles family. A venture by three brothers, The Mont began as a hangout for college kids, but its popularity grew and it soon became a local favorite. If you do not try out the queso, you are definitely missing something. Though favored for their Mexican specialties, the smoked chicken, pulled pork, chicken parmesan and sirloin are equally good. The patio, surrounded by pretty plants, offers a tranquil place to dine in.
From the timeless mission-style furniture, to the cozy leatherette booths and background music by Steinway, the club provides an inviting atmosphere for people to enjoy lunch, dinner, and special events. The club's walls are decorated with outstanding artwork from the collections of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, and examples of Frankoma pottery are featured in a display case near the entrance.
