Soby's New South Cuisine offers Southern cooking with a different je ne sais quoi. For instance, fried green tomatoes are paired with a pimento cheese fondue, and after you taste them you'll wonder why it isn't done more often. Collared greens and a cheese board are a couple of other items that round out the interesting juxtapositions on the 'Southern Taste' appetizer menu. The entrees are equally enticing, from filet Mignon to fish and fried chicken, they exemplify something other than normal run-of-the-mill southern food.
Sassafras features the best of the Southern kitchen with favorites like fried chicken, shrimp grits and meatloaf in addition to crab cakes and fried oysters. And even though it's location is in Greenville or the 'upcountry', the kitchen here still pays homage to 'low-country' cuisine. On the menu, you'll still find catfish, collared greens and that Charleston specialty, Pecan Crusted Trout.
