As part of a City of Mountain View mandated renovation and facilities infrastructure upgrade, the American Bistro will remain closed through 2026. Regarding the timeline Shoreline Lake management has received from the City, construction is expected to be completed in one year. This long-deferred work will involve a much needed expansion of the kitchen and additional square footage for indoor dining, along with significant upgrades to utilities infrastructure. In short, all of that work translates to the potential for offering pizzas, soft serve, and house-made ice cream, as well as a greater selection of real French and Classic American pastries, plus the possibility of offering dinner service, and more, upon reopening. Please note that the outdoor Bistro patio will be fenced off (and not accessible to the public), as part of the restaurant building/facilities upgrade. The adjacent picnic area, while not fenced off, will continue acting as a dedicated venue rental space for Corporate & Special Events bookings – focusing on Shoreline-associated lawn activities and team building. Although event-related activities in this area are limited to those organized by Shoreline Lake, if not in use, visitors can still take a seat, relax, and enjoy the view.
