Kono's Cafe serves up a beach breakfast that's popular with locals and tourists alike, which can lead to an intimidating line- but it moves quickly and there are surf videos to watch and quotes of the week to laugh about. If customers choose to walk outside (burgers and other lunch foods are available, and breakfast is served all day), their meal comes with a view—the ocean and all the characters strolling by. Kono's is as casual as the beach, and plates are big and inexpensive.
Those familiar with the Snooze chain of breakfast eateries will know what to expect from this one in San Diego. Located in the bustling neighborhood of Hillcrest, this eatery is where you should be headed for a scrumptious breakfast. Its fancy interiors and warm, friendly atmosphere make it perfect for a meal with the family. Like the other Snooze outlets, this one too takes pride in its modern rendition of the classic American pancakes. Apart from the popular pancakes, also worth a shot are the signature Havana Daydreaming and Peter Paul Rubens sandwiches.
Werewolf
If you are looking for an evening that includes drinking amazing whiskey in an unpretentious environment, then Werewolf is exactly the place. Most would hardly realize it upon first entering, but the bar has an impressive list of whiskeys from around the world. Moreover, the kitchen prepares tasty small plates for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Try the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict for weekend brunch or the Bourbon Bacon Burger for lunch, both are perfect especially after all the whiskey imbibed upon the night before.

Cafe 222
Designed by a local architect, this informal cafe is a tiny, angular room located near Horton Plaza. The indoor area includes just six wooden tables. Most patrons eat outside on the sidewalk tables. The breakfast menu is the most popular, featuring Joe's Special (a Frittata with eggs, potatoes, spinach and peppers). Other breakfast favorites include home-baked scones and muffins, as well as Pumpkin Waffles. For lunch, the Cafe Burger is a hit, served with Goat Cheese.
Hash House A Go Go has earned devoted fans with huge portions of artfully arranged "twisted farm food". The chef has fun with dishes drawing on fresh produce and livestock and customers have fun eating until the cows come home. Flapjacks might include frosted flakes, the burgers are stuffed, and don't be surprised by the waffles and caramel with a Sage fried chicken at dinner. Breakfast is a favorite, but every meal offers creative plates for hungry folks.
