The Baked Bear

Custom Ice Cream Sandwiches - a novelty dessert shop with cookies that are baked from scratch daily and super premium craft ice cream, made using only the highest-quality ingredients all from homemade original recipes. Given the opportunity to mix and match cookies and ice cream to your heart's content, you can get creative in the absolute most delicious way possible! :).

Toy Boat by Jane

This is a happy hybrid selling delectable indulgences and collectible, pop-culture toys. Nothing can compare to savoring a slice of pumpkin cheesecake while simultaneously gloating over finding a fire-breathing wind-up Godzilla or a complete miniature set of the South Park gang. The toys cover the walls, shelves and windows of this turquoise-blue Victorian, while the treats occupy display counters in this whimsical enterprise for grown-ups still in touch with their inner kid. There is both table and booth seating for about 20. Double Rainbow ice cream, Just Desserts baked goods, as well as coffee, hot chocolate and tea are served.

San Francisco's Hometown Creamery

Serving both classic and unique, internationally inspired flavors, Hometown Creamery is both a neighborhood favorite and a must try for tourists! Owned by two local brothers, Hometown Creamery was the first ice cream shop in San Francisco to make small batch ice cream completely from scratch, on-site! Steps away from Golden Gate Park, the original location on 9th and Irving in the Inner Sunset is where all of of the ice cream and desserts are made from scratch. It houses the dairy plant where we pasteurize and churn our ice cream and the kitchen where we bake and prep all of our confections and mix-ins. It is a warm and inviting place that pleases all of the senses! Neighborhood murals (painted by owner and chef, Saadi Halil) adorn the space and an aroma of freshly baked cookies, brownies and waffle cones steadily whirls through the air. The menu offers "Hometown Favorites" (year round) as well as creative and diverse seasonal flavors that rotate on a monthly basis. There are always vegan options and the shop carefully caters to those with allergies and dietary restrictions. Check out the satellite location in Hayes Valley, and the tricked out 1970s VW Ice Cream bus that operates on the Marina Green, Saturdays and Sundays. *Family owned * Minority owned *Local business *Vegan friendly *Open late *7 days a week *Date night * Inner Sunset *Golden Gate Park * Family Friendly *Local favorite *Tourist attraction *Unique *Hidden gem

Stella Pastry & Cafe

This is just one of the charming, small, family-run bakeries in North Beach. Each has a delicious repertoire of specialties, however the best could easily be here, because of their 'Sacripantina', a cake filled with Zabaglione and soaked in Marsala wine. It is a luscious mix of sponge cake covered in perfectly made rich, sweet cream. You can buy this authentic Italian treat by the cup (it is too messy to make a slice that holds its shape) or by the cake in several sizes. Prices vary, but the quality does not. Please see the website for more information.

Schubert's Bakery

This wonderful German bakery has been purveying rich coffee cakes, creamy mousse cakes and a cornucopia of butter cookies since 1911. The tiny space with a few tables and chairs is usually crammed with people trying to decide between the classic Swedish Princess (white cake with raspberry and kirsch custard and marzipan icing) and one of the many delicious French-inspired mousses and tarts. The fresh bread is also terrific, if you can tear yourself away from the Strawberry Romanoff.
