In the basement of a converted Old Portland-style home, Taste Tickler makes some of the best hoagies in the city. Interesting ideas like a chicken teriyaki sub are manifested behind the counter, and you will not be disappointed if you give one of these creations a try. Submarine sandwiches come in three lengths: seven inches, 10-inch and 14-inch. Ice cream is also dished up here, and it is the perfect way to complete your lunch. Seating is scarce, so order a sandwich to go and head up to Irving Park for a shaded midday retreat.
Voted by the locals as the best place for hot dogs, Franks-A-Lot has been around for quite a while. Their menu features succulent, messy dogs with top-notch sausages and a variety of toppings. Try either the Long Wiener Frank that guarantees to make the fun last longer or perhaps the patriotic Great American Dog, which strictly means business. For the more experimental, mix it up with either a wiener or bratwurst and with veggie options, they keep everyone happy. Busy all through the day, devour your dog at little picnic table posted outside for seating. With all this available at budget prices, Portlanders can't help but say thanks alot, Franks-A-Lot!
