Veracruz Cafe, as its name suggests, specializes in the cuisine of the Veracruz city in Mexico. This historic city has unique soil and climate that favors the growth of various vegetables, fruits, herbs and seasonings. These ingredients are combined here to reproduce authentic and flavorful recipes. The interiors resemble those of a typical café in Veracruz, replete with colonial grandeur. Textured, plum-colored walls are decorated with vibrant artworks in a spectrum of hues. The place seems to burst with color through old-styled chandeliers, vases, pots and ferns. This restaurant celebrates the Mexican way of life with dishes such as Cactus Salad of the Desert, Shrimp Quesadilla and Jalapa-Style Chicken Chili Relleno served with sauces like Huasteco Cream. Do not miss the Mixiotes de Pollo, a dish combining holy spices and chicken pieces in banana leaves, and served with black beans and rice. There is also a separate menu that caters to children. He and his wife, Consuelo, began serving those recipes with the opening of the first Tupinamba in 1947, where it is believed that the Nacho and Sour Cream Enchilada were introduced to Dallas. As the oldest family-owned Mexican Food Restaurant in the city, the Dominguez family proudly serves the same delicious recipes.
