L'Opossum
L'Opossum is a quaint restaurant that looks very ordinary from the outside, but the interiors are quite the opposite. Straying away from traditional decor, L'Opposum has unnatural light fixtures and perplexing portraiture that give the place a surrealist ambiance. The funkiness is also reflected in the food; where unconventional ingredients are used for preparation but the end taste is absolutely delicious and unlike any other. Crab cakes, Bisque, Filet Mignon and Lavender Limoncello are some of the popular French specialties that are available here. Being one of the top 10 restaurants in Richmond, the place is a must-visit for its uniqueness.
This bright, airy restaurant is family-oriented and a great place to broaden your child's taste buds. There is something to catch their eye at every turn—shelves of imported foods in brightly colored packages or vibrant wall decorations. The staff is very friendly. The menu includes authentic Cuban roast pork (as an entree or on a sandwich) and three kinds of paella. This is also the only place in Richmond that has Cuban coffee. A small Cuban market is contained in the restaurant.
The Hogshead Cafe has a simple interior but what it lacks in frills it more than compensates with its delicious menu. There is plenty for you to try at the Hogshead Cafe. For poultry fans, the chicken & waffle is a must-have while meat lovers simply cannot miss the rack of ribs or the pulled pork that is served here. The hand-pulled chicken sandwich, classic reuben and the house speciality hog wings are local favorites. In addition, the place also serves seafood dishes like the Jumbo Southern Fried Shrimp and fried oysters. Large mason jars of lemonade, ginger ale and root beers wash down these BBQ delights with ease. Their prices are moderate and portions do complete justice to every dollar you pay.
Edo's squid offers affordable Italian food and a lively atmosphere in Richmond. They specialize in the pastas and seafood, so don't skip out on the mixed seafood pasta - the noodles are cooked to perfection and the shrimps are plump and juicy. The house spaghetti and sausages, with mushrooms, green peppers and tomatoes, is also a favorite among the locals. The most important dish, however, is probably the squid with arugula appetizer that should be ordered before every meal. All the food is seasoned just right and the portions are huge. Bring your friends and family to this lively restaurant and they will leave not only happy, but full.
