Art Academy founder James Robinson and Co Director Sarah Howard have served the Minneapolis and St. Paul area for over 31 years as artists and instructors. Along with their staff, they have helped turn thousands of students into confident, skilled artists. The school has been featured in The Artist's Magazine, has won the Best of the Twin Cities Award from City Pages, and has been named one of the Best Places for Kid's Summer Activities by WCCO CBS Minnesota. The Art Academy was established upon a simple and revolutionary philosophy: All instructors believe that with time, proper instruction, and encouragement, anyone has the ability to learn to draw and paint exceptionally well. Therefore, the mission of the school is consistent. Teachers work to provide excellent long-term art education for beginning to advanced children, tweens, teens and adults. The school offers basic to advanced traditional classes in drawing, painting, anatomy, illustration, sculpture and origami, which are designed to teach in depth principles of art with the purpose of expanding each individual's knowledge of form, color, and design. Art Academy instruction always stresses practice over talent. When the school's unique, patented teaching methods are combined with a student's best efforts an amazing thing happens: a wealth of hidden artistic potential is released. Students then acquire skills to become fully expressive artists.
