Books donated from the community are recycled in a newly expanded, well lit bookstore. Classics, mysteries, recent publications and a large children's section at rock-bottom prices.
The American poet Emily Dickinson once wrote that "There is no frigate like a book / To take us lands away." The Zaytuna College bookstore aspires to cultivate a community of lifelong readers willing to take the journey, wherever it may lead, that a good book offers. We only carry books that are carefully selected by Zaytuna's faculty and that reflect the school's roots in traditional Islamic knowledge and in its liberal arts mission. We also carry an ever-increasing collection of gift items that are not only hand-made by individual artists and artisans, but are inspired by Islam's profound tradition of sacred art. We hope that at the Zaytuna College Bookstore, you will find books and gifts that, God willing, will feed your mind and your soul.
We offer everyone and anyone interested in the built environment, BOOKS, providing inspiration, technical reference, and how-to. The areas we cover include architecture, engineering, landscape design and gardening, ALL the building trades, codes, and even kids books!
Berkeley's famous independent bookstores tend to occupy the most unlikely of places, and Pegasus, in the former home of a car dealership, is no exception. Being an expansive, former showroom, it lets you browse the selections with lots of air and light at your back. Find a broad range from bestsellers to the classics, from the obscure to the out of print. It boasts a huge selection of overstocked, discounted titles, as well as an ever-growing used section. There is a huge magazine and newspaper rack with many international journals, as well as CDs, gift cards, and bags.
