Treehorn Books began as a collaboration between two friends who shared an interest in literature, history, and collecting books from years pastKeith Hotaling grew up among some far-flung Army bases until high school and college days in Sonoma County. As friends at Sonoma State College, Michael Stephens had arrived in Sonoma County after a childhood in the mid-west. At one time or another, both of our families have been involved in running the store. Especially Grant Hotaling, Keiths son, and the now de-facto store manager. In addition to the family connections, we have several employees who have worked 25 years at the store!
Readers' Books is an independent bookstore in Sonoma that is known for its vast and varied collection of cookbooks, fiction and children's books. New, used and bargain books are sold alongside postcards and magazines as well. While the selection on offer is varied and fairly large, the store is nowhere near the size and scale of the usual bookstore chains. Instead, Readers' Books offers a curated and thoughtful selection, with something for everyone. You are welcome to browse to your heart's content. The bright and friendly store is well-organized and managed by knowledgeable staff who are always happy to share helpful recommendations. Book signings, readings, author events and other fun activities are often organized here as well.
