Established by Powerhouse Books, a well-known publisher of art books, Powerhouse Arena is a spacious bookstore and event space rolled into one. Going beyond just providing books on art, Powerhouse Arena hosts a number of events ranging from art exhibitions and concerts to dance performances and more. The airy space has a casual amphitheater-like setup for various events. Although literary events and visiting authors form the focal point of all events held here, the diverse variety has something in store for everyone.
This shop, tucked away in a townhouse, recently moved to a new location in Tribeca. It offers one of the most impressive selections of mystery books found anywhere; owner Otto Penzler knows his mysteries. Among his many accomplishments, he founded The Mysterious Press. Now he heads up the rare and collectible section of his shop. They also offer a free rare and out-of-print book search. Check website for further details.
