OUR MISSION: Little District Books is a queer-owned Washington, DC based independent book store that celebrates LGBTQIA+ authors and stories. Working as a collective team to curate the selection of stories we share, we uplift local authors and independent publishers and aim to diversify and increase access to queer literature. We strive to be a welcoming, comfortable, and equitable space in our store, virtually, and in the greater DC area through community events and the free exchange of ideas. We carry thousands of titles, all written by and for queer folks and we seek to create a safe and open space for our staff that fosters creativity, freedom, and stability.
Located in downtown DC, Solid State Books is a popular Black-owned independent bookstore in the neighborhood. Unlike a typical bookstore, this charming book shop is also known to serve some delicious coffee, as well as beer and wine, making it a happening community hub. Offering a range of genres to browse through while you sip a choice of your drink, the book shop also has a great kids section to bring your children for book reading sessions and book club events to keep it interactive.
Mission Our Mission, DC downtown Washington, CIC's chapel and bookstore bring the sacraments and spiritual resources to those working in the Nation's Capital. The St. Josemar a Escriv Chapel is a quiet refuge for prayer where Holy Mass, confession, and Eucharistic adoration are offered daily. The chapel and bookstore, along with our ongoing series of lectures and discussion groups, work to provide the tools necessary for Catholics to share and increase their faith. The Catholic Information Center's prominent location allows it to supplement and support the work of local parishes. We strive to promote the "new evangelization" called for by Pope John Paul II through our principal mission: to make the Catholic Church present and alive in the hearts of the men and women who work in the international, financial, and business center of the Nation's Capital. The mission of the Catholic Information Center has four dimensions: Good Reading Material, Sacraments, Education & Formation, and Outreach. Through its large, well-stocked bookstore, CIC provides Catholic books and religious articles to deepen the knowledge and piety of Catholics. Over 2, 500 titles and many religious items are available.
