In New Mexico, the chile is a revered spice. Locals pile them on their hamburgers and pizza, and load them in their sauces. The Chile Shop is a tribute to the red and green pod. You will discover sauces and salsas in varying degrees of heat, as well as powdered mixes to make your own salsa. Blue corn is another taste treat indigenous to the area, and plenty of these products are available here. If you are looking for a gift item, the store carries a nice selection of gift boxes and baskets.

In 2019 Mr. Vajda decided to open a retail Gemsong gallery in the historic La Fonda hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This last chapter in such an interesting, unusual adventurous career was undertaken because of Melissa. Peter Vajda's love of artistic expression, creative energy; because of the rich cultural history & diversity found in Santa Fe and that very special region of the American Southwest. As many folks know, Santa Fe has more Art Jewelry galleries per capita than anywhere else in the world. More art is sold in that small, but unique town that they call the city different, than in any other American city, with the exception of New York city. In the minds of many, as well as in many publications, Santa Fe is considered the center of all things Southwest Native American, the La Fonda Hotel is considered the epicenter and/or heartbeat of Santa Fe. Hence, for many reasons Santa Fe is a great fit for Gemsong Galleries to make a lasting impact in education, history, beauty and inspiration concerning gems, jewelry art. In fact, Gemsong Galleries guiding descriptive moniker usually found under its name is where history and inspiration meet.
As a native New Mexican artist, I hand-make ninety percent of everything you see in my shop. As a 10th generation New Mexican, I pride myself in the fact that Santa Fe is MY town. I have over 350 years of history and roots here. I've put a lot of love and care into the look and feel of my shop, so I want you to enjoy it. My business philosophy is simple, wonderful art sells itself! When you walk through my doors, I greet you and let you know I'm here if you need me. I have an abhorrence for businesses who try to "hard sell" their customers. My number one focus is to share my art, my culture, and hopefully make new friends and new art lovers of my work. Come in and let me tell you about my love of my art, state and culture and why I am so excited and blessed to do what I love everyday. No pinto con mis manors; pinto con mi corazon.
