Woodlanders
Woodlanders is a mail-order nursery, not a retail storefront. We are open by appointment only — please contact us before visiting. Established in 1979 in Aiken, South Carolina, Woodlanders is a long-standing rare plant nursery still growing, propagating, and shipping. We specialize in plants most nurseries have never heard of: rare North American natives, cold-hardy citrus, unusual trees and shrubs, and botanical curiosities sourced from plant hunting expeditions, arboreta, and a global network of serious collectors. Over 46 years we have introduced more than 2,200 plant varieties into cultivation. Our catalog currently carries over 1,100 species. We ship nationally. Everything in the catalog is grown here, by us, on our nearly 20,000 square feet of growing space in Aiken. We occasionally open to the public for scheduled retail days — dates are announced on Instagram (@woodlandersplants) and through our newsletter, The Node. If you are a serious collector, a botanical garden, an arboretum, or a landscape professional sourcing rare material, we would love to hear from you. To visit: Contact us at hello@woodlanders.net or check our Instagram for upcoming open days. We do not have walk-in hours.
