Ingleside Plantation Nurseries, also known as IPN, is a family-owned and operated agricultural enterprise. It is one of the leading wholesale nurseries in Virginia that has been serving retailers, landscapers and garden centers throughout the mid-Atlantic states and New England since 1950. The nursery provides vines, perennials, grass, shrubs, azaleas, broadleaf evergreens, conifers, and ornamental and shade trees. Its pot-n-pot operation offers a variety of flowering and shade trees in 10-, 15- and 25-gallon containers. Ingleside Plantation Nurseries owns more than 2,500 acres of land with over 1,500 acres of nursery space. It employs nearly 150 people and is a member of the American Nursery and Landscape Association, Maryland Nursery's Association, Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association and Wholesale Nursery Growers of America. Founded in 1973, Red Oak Nurseries Inc. is a wholesale distributor of ornamental shrubs. Based in Montross, Va., it specializes in offering 100 varieties of ornamental evergreen and deciduous shrubs. The production nursery offers an array of ornamental shrubs, including abelia, buxus, daylily, grasses, juniper, salix, berberis, clethra, deutzia, syringa, weigela and thuja to name a few. Heather Hill Gardens has been in operation since 1992 when the owners moved into the Victorian house on the property. Over the years, the circa 1900 house has seen the addition of a tower and a greenhouse. Heather Hill Gardens sells annuals & perennial flowers, as well as seasonal produce. Employing primarily organic techniques, the owners avoid using chemicals whenever possible.
