Fort Myers, known as "The City of Palms" for its Royal Palm-lined McGregor Boulevard, isn't directly on the coast but sits close enough to the Gulf of Mexico that salty air and seasonal storms (including hurricanes) can take a serious toll on roofs. The Yahoo Local roofing experts reviewed Fort Myers roofing companies based on Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation , online customer reviews and the range of services offered to find the best roofers near you. We also called each roofer in our guide to ask about pricing, warranties, payment options and whether they conduct background checks, so you can confidently choose the best Fort Myers roofer for your next repair or replacement.

Quick overview

The best roofing company in Fort Myers for YOU

Finding a roofer in Fort Myers can be a daunting task, but the best place to start is to think about your budget, timeline and what kind of roof work you need (repairs or replacement). Look for a licensed and insured roofing contractor. Read online reviews to get a sense of other customers' experiences. Most roofers offer free estimates, and some use satellite tools to quote quickly without an on-site visit.

The permitting process in Fort Myers usually adds a few days to the job. Most re-roofs require a dry-in inspection after the underlayment is installed and a final inspection at the end. A typical job takes about a week, including materials delivery, a couple of inspections and any weather- or permit-related delays.

Pay attention to the warranties, which vary by company and shingle brand. Swift Roofing Services Inc. , our pick for best overall Fort Myers roofer, offers a 10-year workmanship warranty and 50-year coverage through Owens Corning. Durabilis Roofing includes a limited lifetime labor warranty and uses in-house crews. Evans Roofing has been around since 1986 and brings decades of local experience. Mighty Fine Roofing is newer but certified with Owens Corning, GAF and Tamko. For commercial roof replacements, Extreme Florida Roofing is a top choice.

It's always a good idea to get a few quotes so you can compare what's included. This can help you find a roofer that fits your home and budget. The roofers we spoke to for this guide handle permits, cleanup and inspections so your project stays on track.

Swift Roofing Services Inc. is the best overall roofing company in Fort Myers. The family-owned business offers residential and commercial roofing with fair pricing, strong warranties and responsive, hands-on service. The representative we spoke with was kind, helpful and informative, which matches the positive customer reviews on Google and Yelp, from " professional " and " very responsive " to " excellent communication ." Swift is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, meaning it's trusted to install the shingles correctly and can offer stronger manufacturer warranties. (Check out our explainer on roofing certifications and why they matter .)

This Fort Myers roofer offers aerial estimates using satellite imagery to provide a rough re-roof estimate. Swift Roofing Services quoted us $9,540 for a shingle roof replacement on a roughly 1,100-square-foot home using Owens Corning Duration shingles, which are rated for wind speeds up to 130 mph. The estimate includes all permits, inspections and any filing fees.

It also covers tearing off the old roof down to the plywood. (If you have extra shingle layers to remove, you will be charged $0.50 a square foot.) The roofers will replace rotten boards starting at $85 per sheet and any damaged framing wood starting at $7 per foot. Swift includes a 10-year workmanship warranty for installation-related leaks and a 50-year full coverage warranty through Owens Corning, depending on the shingles selected.

A down payment is required to get the job on the schedule, but the amount is flexible (as low as 10%), and a representative told Yahoo Local they like to "make it work for the customer." A second payment is due when materials are delivered, and the final payment is made once the new roof is complete. You can pay by check, credit card (3% processing fee) or through QuickBooks. Financing is also available. The full roof replacement takes about a week from start to finish, allowing time for material delivery, inspections and permits.

The roofing proposal clearly states that it does not subcontract out any of its labor and that all employees undergo background checks.

The BBB accredits Swift Roofing and gives it an A rating. It has no customer complaints on file with the BBB. On Google, it has a 4.9-star rating (89 reviews) and a five-star Yelp rating (one review). The company is family-owned with two owners. The representative we spoke with told us that one of them serves as the on-site supervisor and is out on every job, staying hands-on with scheduling and quality control. A home with a new 5V metal roof, which has a corrosion-resistant coating, installed by Durabilis Roofing in Fort Myers

Durabilis Roofing stands out as one of our top-rated Southwest Florida roofing companies. Founded by former roofer Juan Rizo in 2018, the company has earned a strong reputation among Fort Myers homeowners for its quality work, honest pricing and dependable service.

Durabilis Roofing conveniently offers free instant roof replacement estimates on its website. Enter your address and provide your contact information to receive the details. For a one-story shingle roof replacement on a roughly 1,100-square-foot Fort Myers home, we were quoted between $10,275 and $12,558 for Tamko Titan XT shingles (rated for wind speeds up to 160 miles per hour). The cost of the permit, which Durabilis Roofing pulls, is built into the estimate. The estimate also includes peel-and-stick underlayment, attic ventilation, re-nailing the roof deck, replacing any damaged wood, trash removal and wind mitigation upgrades.

A Durabilis Roofing representative told us that a lifetime labor warranty is included, with additional manufacturer warranties depending on the shingle brand selected.

Payment is split into thirds: the first payment is due when the contract is signed, the second after shingles are removed and the final after the roof is completed. Durabilis Roofing takes cash, check, debit and credit cards. There is a 3% processing fee added to credit card payments. Financing is also available.

Services offered

  • Asphalt shingle, tile, metal and flat roofs

  • Roof replacement

  • Roof repair

  • Emergency nail tarping

  • Roof certification

  • Third-nail strapping

  • Skylights and solar tubes

A representative with Durabilis Roofing told us the re-roof should take roughly two to three days. The crew, which is made up of background-checked, in-house roofers, parks a dumpster in the driveway the day of the job. For paver driveways, they lay down a tarp or use another ground cover to avoid damaging your driveway. Tarps are also used to cover landscaping, pools and anything else that needs it. The company told us it puts down the synthetic underlayment as soon as the shingles are removed. This way, if rain starts, the roof will already be waterproof.

Durabilis Roofing is not BBB-accredited . However, it does have an A+ rating and no listed complaints with the BBB. It has a five-star rating on Google (111 reviews) and Yelp (five reviews), with one former customer writing Durabilis Roofing is " genuine, trustworthy and honest ."

Mighty Fine Roofing is the best local roofing company in Fort Myers

A new metal roof on a Florida home installed by Mighty Fine Roofing

A new metal roof on a Florida home installed by Mighty Fine Roofing

Taking a call during his lunch break, Mighty Fine Roofing co-owner Rusty Russell didn't waste any time — he pulled up our address on the spot and used satellite imagery to give us a rough estimate of $10,000 for a one-story shingle roof replacement on a 1,100-square-foot home. Russell told us he owns the company with his son-in-law, and the two run the Fort Myers-based business together. Founded in 2023, Mighty Fine Roofing is a newer company but is already certified by Owens Corning, GAF and Tamko, and it works with all major shingle brands.

This estimate includes 160 mph-rated architectural shingles, with Tamko's Titan XT being one of the most popular options in Southwest Florida due to its wind resistance, durability and wide color selection. Mighty Fine Roofing holds preferred contractor status with all three brands. A five-year workmanship warranty is included, with additional manufacturer warranties available depending on the shingle brand chosen.

A 50% deposit is required to schedule the re-roof. After the dry-in inspection, 25% is due, with the remaining 25% paid after the roof is fully shingled. Mighty Fine Roofing invoices through QuickBooks and accepts payment by cash, check, ACH (no fee) or credit card (with a 3% processing fee). Financing is also available.

On demo day, which Russell called "the messiest day," the crew performs a complete tear-off, disposing of all materials in a large trailer that is hauled away at the end of the day. They then install Owens Corning peel-and-stick underlayment to waterproof the roof, along with drip edges and flashing, before the dry-in inspection. Once that's approved, the crew returns to cut in vents and shingle the roof to completion. Most projects take two working days, with one inspection day in between.

Services offered

  • Residential roofing

  • Commercial roofing

  • New construction roofing

  • Roof repairs

  • Roof replacements

  • Tile, metal and single roofing

  • Green roofing systems

Russell told us that his crews do not undergo background checks, but that a Mighty Fine Roofing employee, who is background-checked, is on the jobsite at all times.

When afternoon storms are in the forecast, Mighty Fine Roofing starts early and works efficiently to ensure your roof stays watertight. Russell explained that the crew keeps Visqueen, a thick, polyethylene plastic sheeting, on hand, which is large enough to cover a roof twice the size of the one he quoted us for, in case rain unexpectedly starts.

This Fort Myers roofer is not accredited by the BBB and has an A- rating due to its recent opening. It has one complaint on file with the BBB regarding service or repair issues, which was resolved. Elsewhere, it's rated five stars on both Google, with 58 reviews, and Yelp, with six.

Call 239-944-0063 or visit the Mighty Fine Roofing website for more information. Located at 2200 Second Street, Fort Myers, Fla., 33901, Mighty Fine Roofing's business hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is closed on Sundays.

Customer testimonial

If you've had a roofer out for any repairs or estimates lately you will know that their pricing is outrageous, I would say, obscene. I found many have "minimum charges" of thousands of dollars for even the most minor repair. I had such a minor repair - lost a few shingles off the roof vent in one of the hurricanes. I called Mighty Fine Roofing because of their excellent reviews and their website indicated they do small repairs. Rusty came out and quoted a fair and reasonable price. They completed the repair yesterday. They used a black tar shield, in addition to replacing and nailing in the missing shingles. I'm quite confident this repair will weather the next storm. I will call Mighty Fine Roofing again for future roofing needs. - Carla M., Google reviews (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

Fort Myers roofing FAQs

How often should I have my roof inspected, and how much do roof inspections cost in Fort Myers?

Dickson Roofing , a southwest Florida roofing contractor, recommends Fort Myers homeowners schedule roof inspections once or twice a year due to Florida's heat, humidity and chance of storms with high winds. Inspecting your roof after a major storm is also a good idea to check for any damage. Most roofers in the area offer free roof inspections for repairs and replacements. However, make sure to ask about roof inspection costs when you call to schedule yours.

How do I know if my roof needs repairs or a full replacement?

If you have damage limited to a small area of your roof, and your roof is in overall good condition, a repair is likely the best route. If you have widespread damage, then a replacement is the way to go, especially if your roof is reaching the end of its lifespan. Other signs a replacement may be necessary are if you notice granules in your gutters, curled or cracked shingles and roof leaks and water damage. For more, read Yahoo Local's guide to the five signs your roof needs repairs or a replacement .

Does homeowner's insurance cover roof repairs or replacement?

Most home insurance policies include coverage for roof repair and replacement due to damage from perils like fire, hail or high winds. Not all insurance policies are the same, so it's always a good idea to review it at least once a year to ensure you're properly covered. Fort Myers homeowners should aim to do so well ahead of hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30. For more information, check out our in-depth guide to understanding if your home insurance covers roof damage .

How long does a roof typically last in Fort Myers?

In Fort Myers, shingle roofs can last up to 30 years, according to Dickson Roofing , a Naples roofing contractor. Metal roofs can last even longer, with a predicted lifespan of 50 years or more.

How much does the average roof replacement cost in Fort Myers?

According to AKM Roofing , a Southwest Florida-based roofing company, the average costs for roof replacements in Fort Myers range from $4,000 to $25,300. The cost depends on the size and complexity of your roof. The type of material you select impacts the cost, too. Asphalt shingles are more affordable than other roofing materials like tiles and metal. AKM Roofing states that you can expect to pay an average of $7,800 for a standard 1,500 square foot shingle roof replacement in Fort Myers. Of the roofers we spoke with in this guide, the cost ranges from roughly $9,500 to $12,500 for a basic shingle roof replacement for a roughly 1,100-square-foot home.

How long does it usually take to replace a roof in Fort Myers, and can you stay in your home during a roof replacement?

According to Swift Roofing Services Inc. , our No. 1 Fort Myers roofer, most roof replacements take one to three days. The amount of time it takes to put a new roof on your home depends on the size, roof complexity and weather conditions. You can stay home during a re-roof, but you might not want to. Roofers are up on the roof early in the morning, tearing off the old roof and nailing on a new one, which can be quite disruptive if you have pets, young kids or work from home.

What is the best time of year to replace a roof in Fort Myers?

According to Southwest Florida roofer Modern Build Method LLC , the best time to replace your Fort Myers roof is during the cooler, drier months — typically fall and winter. These seasons generally bring lower humidity and milder temperatures, though it's smart to keep hurricane season in mind, which runs through November 30. This roofer also notes that booking your project in the off-season can mean lower costs and better availability. Spring tends to be rainy, and summer is brutally hot and humid with daily afternoon storms, neither of which is ideal for roof work.

What questions should I ask a roofing contractor before hiring them?

Asking your roofing contractor the right questions before hiring can save you headaches and confusion down the road. Start by asking about the scope of work, and make sure to get a detailed estimate in writing or emailed over to you. This includes pricing and timing information. You should also ask to verify business licensing and registration information, whether or not the roofer handles the permit and about the payment process and options. A reputable roofer will be happy to answer any and all questions you have. If not, consider it a red flag and look elsewhere.

Is it better to hire a local Fort Myersroofing company instead of a national chain?

While there's no right or wrong answer, hiring a local roofer instead of a national chain has many benefits. For starters, a roofer based in Fort Myers knows the best times to work and apply materials in Florida's hot, humid and often wet climate. Roofing contractors operating in the area are also likely more invested in maintaining a strong reputation within the community, and will likely work harder to ensure your trust and that your roofing needs are met. A national chain, however, can have some advantages like better financing and extended warranty options, larger crews and more availability.

Are there local roofing regulations or permits required in Fort Myers?

According to Lee County's Building and Permitting Services , a permit is required to install or replace a roof in Fort Myers. Lee County building code requires two key inspections for all roof replacements. The dry-in inspection is done after the roof deck is stripped and re-nailed, and the underlayment and flashing are installed, but before any shingles or roof covering go on. The final roof inspection is done when the job is complete to verify code compliance and workmanship.

Ask your roofing company about permits when you call. For more information, check out our guide to Florida roofing licensing and regulations .
