Top Reno roofers

The best roofing company in Renofor YOU

When choosing the right roofer , start by considering the type of work you need. A full roof replacement will cost significantly more than a small repair, so it is worth getting multiple quotes to make sure you are paying a fair price. But cost is not the only factor that matters. Take time to read customer reviews on sites like the BBB, Yelp and Google to get a sense of each company's reliability, communication and overall workmanship. Many roofers offer similar services, which can make it tough to decide who to hire, but reputation and customer satisfaction can help break the tie.

For roofing projects in Reno, our top choice is Mountain Vista Roof Systems . Although it is a relatively new company, it has quickly earned a strong reputation among local homeowners for quality work and dependable service. Great Basin Roofing is another excellent option in the Reno and Sparks area, especially if you want a roofer with experience in solar-friendly roofing systems.

Best roofing companies in Reno, Nev.

Mountain Vista Roof Systems is the best overall Reno roofing company

Mountain Vista Roof System is our best overall roofing company in the Reno area. The business was founded in 2022 by Nevada native Aaron Galloway, who began his career doing tear-offs and shingle installation before launching his own residential roofing company. Although it's among the newer roofing companies in Reno, its website notes it has a clear focus on Northern Nevada's shifting climates, including high winds, intense sun exposure and wide temperature swings. It serves Carson City, Reno, Sparks and surrounding communities.

The Mountain Vista Roof Systems representative we spoke with was friendly and answered all of our questions, though let us know that the company only does aerial estimations if someone is looking to buy the property. All other cases require an in-person roofing inspection. This is typical of many roofers across the U.S.

It offers a 10-year workmanship warranty with all shingle roof replacements. As a Malarkey Premium installer, it offers a Malarkey manufacturer's warranty. There is a $1,000 down payment required when you sign the contract. The remainder is due at the end of the reroof. A representative told us that if the contract price needs to change for any reason, such as replacing more plywood than anticipated, you will get a heads-up call. A 3.25% transaction fee applies when paying by card. Other payment methods include an e-check option using your bank account and routing number, as well as personal checks.

Mountain Vista Roof Systems handles all necessary permits for you. Most roofing jobs for standard, one-story homes take the company one to three days, but that all hinges on the size and scope of your project. The company notes that it builds in time for " possible delays ," including weather, and will "keep you informed every step of the way."

Services offered

• Residential roofing

• Roof replacement

• Skylight installation

• Seamless gutter systems

• Roof restoration

• Metal roofing

The company uses background-checked, in-house roofing crews for all of its work. The crews are responsible for cleaning your property during and after the installation. A dumpster is placed in the driveway and removed after the roof is torn off. You can stay home during the roofing work, a representative told us, but just keep in mind it will be very loud inside, which can be disruptive for animals and children.

The BBB accredits this roofer and awards it an A+ rating. It has no filed customer complaints on record with the BBB. It has a 4.8-star Yelp rating from 39 reviews. On Google, the company has a five-star rating based on 143 reviews, with some reviewers noting that it " helped me every step of the way " and " did an amazing job ."

Mountain Vista Roofing is located at 36 Glen Carran Circle, Sparks, Nev., 89431. You can reach this Reno roofer by calling 775-431-6367 or visiting the company's website . It's open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and closed on weekends.

Great Basin Roofing is our top alternative Reno roofer

Our No. 2 recommendation is Great Basin Roofing, a locally owned Reno contractor that works on residential properties. The company holds impressive roofing certifications from CertainTeed and GAF, indicating high-quality work, and it serves those in the Reno-Sparks area and surrounding communities in northern Nevada.

Great Basin Roofing offers instant estimates on its website, providing a convenient way to ballpark how much you might spend. For a one-story, 1,700-square-foot home, the job is estimated at $10,024 to $11,533 using GAF Timberline HDZ Driftwood shingles, with more expensive options to upgrade the shingles. When we spoke with the company over the phone, a representative stressed that an estimator will follow up the online estimate with a free inspection (including photos) to give a more accurate quote.

Roof replacements generally take three to four days, depending on the specifics of your roof. Great Basin Roofing keeps a close eye on the forecast, monitoring the weather closely and instructing its crews to work in sections so that if a shower pops up, your roof isn't left exposed. The company offers a 25-year workmanship warranty that is transferable up to three times.

A $1,000 deposit is required to get on this roofer's schedule and helps cover permitting costs, which the company handles. Once your date is confirmed, 60% of the total estimate is due to cover materials and scheduling, and the remaining balance is paid after the roof is done. There is a 3.5% fee to pay with a credit card, but there is no added cost to use a debit card. Alternatively, you can pay by cash or check.

It does not use subcontractors for jobs. Instead, it has two roofing crews and two repair crews, and every one of them has undergone a background check and been with the company at least three years, the representative said. The crew brings a double-axel dump trailer that is parked in the driveway. The team tears off the old roof and makes sure that the decking board is in good condition, replacing any rotted or old boards as needed. The first two sheets of plywood are free.

Great Basin Roofing is not accredited by the BBB (A+ rating) and has one customer complaint on file in the last year. It has a 4.9-star Google rating based on 179 reviews, where one reviewer noted the team is " courteous and professional ." It has more mixed reviews on Yelp, with an average three-star rating from 19 reviews.

This top-rated Reno roofing company is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. It is closed on weekends. You can text or call 775-247-2266 for more information. You can also visit the website to get a roofing estimate quickly. Its business address is listed as 10580 North McCarran Blvd., Suite 115-419, Reno, Nev., 89503.

Customer testimonial

All I can say is WOW! I highly recommend Great Basin Roofing. Carlos and his team did an excellent job! Everyone on his team was extremely polite and professional. They redid my roof and insulation and gave me a fair price with top notch customer service. It was a great combo because it was easy to remove the old insulation while the roof was opened up. Carlos was very responsive to all of my questions and resolved any concerns I had without hesitation or push back. I feel very taken care of and I would be comfortable recommending him and his team to anyone. They also included 100ft of gutters with my roof which was much needed. They installed them exactly how I asked and they look great. 5 Stars! Definitely give Great Basin Roofing a call if you need a new roof. - Will A., Google reviews (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

Customer testimonial

I couldn't be happier with my new roof! The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. JJ did a great job of helping us with the process and answered any questions we had quickly. What really stood out was the great value—premium materials and expert installation at a price that felt more than fair. There's also a sense of exclusivity in the design and finish; it doesn't look like every other roof on the block. Highly recommend to anyone looking for both quality and distinction! - Tara S., Google reviews (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

Nevada roofing FAQs

How much does the average roof replacement cost in Nevada?

According to This Old House , Nevada homeowners pay an average of $7,830 for a roof replacement, with most projects ranging from $5,994 to $19,854 depending on the roof size, materials chosen and project complexity. Our guide to roof replacement costs explains more about what you can expect.

How do I know if my roof needs repairs or a full replacement?

A professional roof inspection is the most reliable way to determine what your roof needs. If your roof has widespread damage, frequent leaks, sagging or is near the end of its expected lifespan, a full replacement is usually recommended. Smaller issues, like a few damaged shingles or cracked tiles, may only require repairs. Our guide to roof repairs vs. roof replacements can help you better understand which one you may need.

Are there roofing regulations or permits required in Nevada?

Yes. Nevada requires roofers to hold a C-15 roofing license from the Nevada State Contractors Board. This license demonstrates that the contractor has experience, understands safety rules and has passed the required exams. Homeowners can easily check a roofer's license through the NSCB's online search tools, which also show bond details and help you avoid unlicensed contractors.

Most major roofing projects also need a building permit, and roofers must meet local business requirements. For example, contractors working in Las Vegas or Clark County need both a Nevada State Contractor's License and a current Clark County Business License to get permits. Our guide to Nevada roofing licensing and regulations has more.

How long does a roof typically last in Nevada?

Cooper Solar , a Nevada roofing and solar contractor, states that most roofs in the state last 25 to 50 years, depending on the material and the quality of installation. Asphalt shingles usually last 15 to 40 years, while materials like tile and metal can last much longer. Nevada's strong sun and heat can wear down lower-grade materials more quickly, so good ventilation and regular maintenance help extend a roof's life.

What is the best time of year to replace a roof in Nevada?

According to East Fork Roofing , one of the best Reno roofers, fall is one of the best times to replace a roof in Nevada. Fall temperatures typically range from 45 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit with minimal rainfall, which helps shingles seal properly and allows roofers to work full days. Winter is less convenient because cold weather affects shingle adhesion, and summer is often very busy for roofers. Many homeowners choose fall for the best balance of comfortable weather and faster project timelines.
