Blue Ribbon Roofing LLC is the best overall Spring roofing company

A Blue Ribbon Roofing crew replaces a home's roof (Blue Ribbon Roofing LLC)

Founded in 2010, Blue Ribbon Roofing LLC has built a great reputation in the greater Spring area by prioritizing honesty and education above the hard sell. The company helps customers navigate insurance claims, offering to meet with your insurance adjuster to document storm damage and provide a detailed assessment and recommendations for restoring your home’s roof.

Paying for a new roof with Blue Ribbon Roofing is straightforward. The company requires a 50% deposit upon signing the contract; the balance is due after the final inspection and sign-off. You can pay with cash, check or credit card, but there’s a 5% transaction fee on credit card charges over $1,000. To get an estimate, the company requires an in-person inspection.

The company also offers in-house financing. However, when we spoke to a team member, she said that the company is currently between finance companies. She said more people have been choosing to work with a credit union, which can offer better interest rates.

Services offered

  • Residential roofing

  • Roof repair

  • Roof replacement

  • Storm damage assessment

  • Roof inspections

Blue Ribbon Roofing’s installation process is designed for minimal disruption, with most residential roofing projects completed in a day. A crew chief or project manager remains on-site to oversee the crew, answer any questions you may have and capture progress photos at each stage. This visual documentation lets you see the company’s work on the unseen parts of your roof, like the underlayment and flashing, before the final shingles are laid.

The background-checked crews treat cleanup with the same thorough approach, taking precautions to protect landscaping and exterior walls. They perform a final site sweep with powerful magnets to collect nails. The company backs its services with a three-year workmanship warranty, which you can extend through manufacturer programs for a fee, and a $20,000 third-party guarantee through Directorii for registered projects.

As a CertainTeed ShingleMaster, Blue Ribbon Roofing uses high-performance materials, including impact-resistant shingles and an ice-and-water shield, designed to withstand the state’s weather. The company is BBB-accredited with an A+ rating and no complaints. It has a five-star Google rating (174 reviews) and a 4.7-star Yelp rating (31 reviews). The company is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on weekends.

They also did some carpentry as needed, put up new gutters, added more attic ventilation, and all new drip edge. They also handled all the insurance problems we had. Of course, we had to pay for the extras. Great job, we are very pleased.

Best Choice Roofing is the best national roofer serving Spring

A home with a new roof installed by Best Choice Roofing
A home with a new roof installed by Best Choice Roofing (Best Choice Roofing)

Yahoo Local is here to help people make smart, informed decisions. While it’s always worthwhile to highlight local businesses, there are times when a national roofing company is the better choice. If you’re weighing your options, our guide comparing local vs. national roofers can help. For homeowners considering a nationwide contractor, Best Choice Roofing is our top recommendation for the Spring area.

Best Choice Roofing is headquartered in Tennessee and operates dozens of locations across the Southeast, with a national reach that extends well beyond the region. The company has 90 offices in 30 states, from Los Angeles to New York. As a full-service roofing contractor, it provides roofing, gutter and skylight services both in the Southeast and nationwide. Founded in 2009, this Tennessee-based roofer has grown into the largest Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor in the country. It maintains a 4.2-star average rating on Google based on more than 200 reviews. On Yelp, Best Choice has a one-star average, though that figure comes from only two reviews and is not representative of its overall service.

Most Best Choice Roofing locations focus on asphalt shingle roofing systems, though some offices can accommodate specialty material requests, including metal roofing. Each project includes a standard five-year labor warranty, with the option to upgrade to lifetime coverage. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, Best Choice also offers a 50-year materials warranty on Owens Corning products.

Services offered

  • Roof repair, replacement and installation

  • Free roof inspections

  • Roof cleaning

  • Gutter services

  • Skylight installation and repair

Like many national roofing companies, Best Choice does not provide pricing information over the phone. Instead, customers are encouraged to schedule a free on-site inspection. During the visit, a Best Choice “solutionist” reviews pricing, deposits, financing and payment structure. A company representative explained that these details vary significantly by job and location, making an in-person estimate necessary for accurate information. Free inspections are typically available within 24 hours of the initial call.

Financing is the most common way customers choose to pay, though other options, such as card or check, can be discussed with a Best Choice representative during the inspection.

Best Choice Roofing is accredited by the BBB with an A+ rating and has received 123 complaints over the past three years. Inspectors and project managers are employed directly by the company, while installation crews are subcontracted, which is standard practice for large national roofing providers. All in-house employees undergo criminal background checks prior to hiring, though findings do not automatically disqualify candidates.

For more information, call 866-237-8246 or request a free inspection online . Best Choice Roofing operates in 30 states nationwide, with its closest location at 24900 Pitkin Rd., Suite 305, Spring, Texas, 77386. It's open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed on weekends.

Texas roofing FAQs

How much does the average roof replacement cost in Texas?

The cost to replace a roof in Texas ranges from $6,777 to $20,531, depending on the size of the home, the roof's complexity, labor costs and the materials you choose. According to This Old House , the average amount Lone Star State homeowners pay is $8,634.

How do I know if my roof needs repairs or a full replacement?

Determining whether your roof needs repairs or a full replacement requires evaluating a few key factors:

  • Age:If your roof is over 15-20 years old, it’s probably more cost-effective to replace it than make ongoing repairs.

  • Damage:Minor issues like a few missing shingles may justify repairs, but widespread damage — like multiple leaks or sagging — indicates a replacement makes more sense.

  • Visible signs of deterioration:Cracked or curling shingles, water stains on ceilings or walls or excessive granule loss in the gutters suggest it’s time to replace the roof.

On the other hand, if your roof is less than 15 years old and has issues confined to a specific area, a repair may suffice. Roofing professionals often suggest the rule of thirds: if the cost to repair exceeds one-third of the cost to replace, it’s financially better to replace the roof. A full replacement includes a new warranty, increases your home’s value and addresses hidden issues like mold in the attic or rotted plywood before they cause serious interior damage.

Are there roofing regulations or permits required in Texas?

Texas doesn’t require a statewide license for roofing contractors . However, local municipalities have strict permitting requirements and building codes that homeowners must follow to ensure their roof is legal and insurable.

Many reputable roofing contractors hold a voluntary license through the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT) . To earn this license, they must pass an exam, maintain a physical place of business and provide proof of insurance. Some cities also require roofers to register locally before they can pull permits.

How long does a roof typically last in Texas?

The average lifespan of a roof in Texas is 15 to 20 years. While many roofing materials are rated for 25 to 30 years nationally, the state’s extreme heat, UV rays and hailstorms often contribute to early deterioration. Consider scheduling a professional inspection every year or two, especially after the spring storm season. If you notice granules collecting in your gutters or shingles that look shiny or bald, your roof could be nearing the end of its functional life.

What is the best time of year to replace a roof in Texas?

The best time to replace your roof in Texas is the fall. This season has milder temperatures, a lower chance of rain, and more humane working conditions than summer’s relentless heat. Spring is possible but rainier, which can delay projects.
