Step into an old-fashion sandwich shoppe: checkered curtains, red counter top, simple menu, fresh ingredients, and a smiling staff. They've been an anchor to California State University, Northridge students and community since 1964. The current owner, Maria, worked here for 24 years before she bought it from the founders in 2003 when they “retired” at age 80. Through the years Michael Landon, Jenna Elfman, and the Eagles have sat at the red counter to enjoy a hero sandwich. And, according to the framed menu, circa 1964, you could have ordered a 6” Hero and soda for only 60 cents! Sadly, it's not the same anymore.
