JDA was formed in December 2002, built largely upon the principles gleaned from 28 years of observing the Structural Engineering profession, and from talented mentors ( see Acknowledgements ). As a result of a local building boom in our first four years, we have been able to attract diverse and talented engineers and staff, set up a nice office, and purchase state-of-the-art structural software and equipment. We are poised to be productive and responsive. Joe has been a practicing structural engineer for 28 years. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, including a year at the L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. He has always held an appreciation of architecture and thoroughly enjoys the design process. He has strived, with some success, to instill this spirit into the JDA staff. Every day we face creative challenges, many that affect the way a building will be seen. Just about anything is structurally possible, the question is whether the budget will allow it. It is our job to explore the options and to find economical and practical solutions that realize the architect's vision.We really have fun with projects that push the envelope.
