Albany Karate for Kids

Teaching non-aggressive martial arts to kids ages 6-16. We use the term "Karate", because our program incorporates 3 disciplines: Tae Kwon Do Japanese Weapons Self-Defense Starting at the white belt level, students will learn hands-on practical self-defense techniques for handling bullies and aggressive or dangerous people. At the more advanced levels, students learn non-contact Iado sword and Bo staff weapons. Our program is non-aggressive and offers light contact, sparring. At the very advanced levels, students may participate in contact sparring (with gear) to develop timing and control- but this is done in a safe, and supervised, non-harming class. All students are welcome to participate in our annual Kick-a-Thon to help raise money for national charities- these fun events have helped us raise over $15,000. A fun part or our program is our Annual Tournament, where students of all levels compete for awards in Kata and Board-Breaking categories. Demo team option too!

LeBlanc Wing Chun Kung Fu

Wing Chun is a Chinese system of self-defense that can be practiced by anyone; its design is based on angles, body mechanics and structure; maximizing the strength and effectiveness of its methods. Wing Chun training is focused on a sudden and close range event where self-protection skills are required. Wing Chun actions defend and attack simultaneously and at close range; seeking to rapidly overwhelm the opponent with counter-attacks. Wing Chun's strength is in being simple, direct and efficient; actions always involve disturbing balance, taking position and chasing center of mass. At LeBlanc Wing Chun we offer practical training methods for self-protection, in a safe and friendly environment. Wing Chun training is about developing under pressure: precision, balance, speed and structural power; its methods are purposefully practiced in a way that maximizes safety. Our school teaches and trains exclusively in the lineages of Gary Lam and Wong Shun Leung.
