, Russell had 3,267 passing yards 35 touchdown passes and three interceptions. He added 304 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns for the state championship-winning Panthers.
Committing to SMU on Sept. 21, 2023, Russell reported an offer from Alabama April 24. He reportedly held an official visit in Tuscaloosa May 31 after an official visit with SMU.

Keelon Russell stats
Russell's numbers improved even more in 2024.
Through 12 games, Russell had 3,652 passing yards, 52 touchdowns and two interceptions with a 71.5% completion rare. He added 254 rushing yards and two scores on 25 carries.
Russell is now a five-star quarterback and is the No. 2 signal caller in the class behind Michigan

Where does Keelon Russell fit in Alabama depth chart?
With Jalen Milroe
likely leaving Alabama after the 2024 season, the Crimson Tide could have a quarterback battle on its hands.
Ty Simpson
, a former five-star, seems to be the frontrunner for snaps in 2025, while Dylan Lonergan and Austin Mack
will also fight for snaps in the spring.

But Russell is the best quarterback recruit to sign with Alabama since Bryce Young
in 2020. And Young immediately stepped into the second spot on the Crimson Tide's depth chart behind Mac Jones
, took the starting job one season later and won the Heisman Trophy.
When Russell arrives, expect for the 2025 five-star to push for playing time.
