- 2025 5-star Michael Carroll signs with Alabama football. What to know the Tide's newest OL
A top offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class has officially signed with Alabama football .
Michael Carroll , a five-star offensive lineman out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, signed with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday, joining Kalen DeBoer's first recruiting class in Tuscaloosa.
Carroll, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound lineman who primarily played guard in high school, is listed as the No. 17 prospect and the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country per 247Sports' composite rankings.
Here's what you need to know about Carroll.
A Pennsylvania native, Carroll, received an offer from Alabama in February after his junior season at Central Bucks East High School. He held an official visit with the Crimson Tide after a visit to Georgia. According to 247Sports, Carroll also had official visits scheduled at Michigan and Penn State , but instead committed to Alabama days after his visit.
Carroll was offered by Colorado in November, and he held an official visit with the Buffaloes for their Nov. 16 win against Utah. But Carroll stayed pat and signed with Alabama on Wednesday.
Alabama will have a spot likely open on its offensive line with left guard Tyler Booker projected as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Geno VanDeMark, a Michigan State transfer who served as the Crimson Tide's sixth-man at both guard spots in 2024, looks to be first in line to take the starting spot. Alabama also has players like Casey Poe, Olaus Alinen and Wilkin Formby — all former top-200 recruits — that are waiting to make an impact on the offensive line.
Alabama is expected to sign four-star tackles Micah DeBose and Jackson Lloyd along with in-state three-star Mal Waldrep.
Five-star tackle Ty Haywood had been committed to Alabama since July 14, but is not expected to sign with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.
Based on size alone, Carroll could fill in the gaps and play both guard and tackle, giving him a fast path to the two-deep upon arrival.
