- Alabama basketball lands Ohio transfer Mark Sears
Alabama basketball has added Mark Sears via the transfer portal, he announced Thursday on Twitter.
Sears, a Muscle Shoals native, is transferring from Ohio. He's a 6-foot-1, 185 pound guard who will be entering his junior year.
This past season, the guard averaged 19.6 points, 6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game with the Bobcats. He was named to the MAC All-Conference first team

247Sports lists him as the No. 8 basketball player available in the transfer portal this offseason.
As a freshman, he started five games and played in 23, scoring 8.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He had two 20-point games in 2020-21 and earned a spot on the MAC all-freshman team.
In high school he played for Hargrave Military Academy, averaging 14 points, three assists and five rebounds as he led Hargrave to a 37-4 record.

The addition of the guard is needed as Alabama is in flux at the position after the 2021-22 season. Jaden Shackelford has declared for the NBA Draft and plans to sign with an agent. Alabama coach Nate Oats said his gut feeling is that freshman guard JD Davison will also go pro.
Jahvon Quinerly 's status is uncertain because he tore his ACL in the Notre Dame game in the NCAA Tournament. He originally labeled that game as his last as a college player, but he has since removed that caption on Instagram. He went through senior day.
Keon Ellis, another guard, did as well. He has not officially made his intentions known for next season just yet.
Alabama will also be adding the No. 3 recruiting class this offseason with five signees, including two McDonald's All-Americans in Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley, who is a point guard.
