- Alabama football vs Auburn: Score prediction, scouting report for 2024 Iron Bowl
The first Iron Bowl of the Kalen DeBoer era has arrived.
No. 13 Alabama football will host Auburn on Saturday, with the Crimson Tide holding onto a sliver of hope in the College Football Playoff , and the Tigers coming in with bowl eligibility on the line.
Alabama has won four straight against Auburn , and has not lost an Iron Bowl at home since 2010. However, DeBoer is looking to become the first Alabama coach since Dennis Franchione to win his debut Iron Bowl.
Alabama will face Auburn at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday on ABC.
Here's what the Crimson Tide should expect from the Tigers on Saturday.
RB Jarquez Hunter : Defenses have rarely been able to stop Jarquez Hunter. He leads the SEC with 6.6 yards per carry. He has four games with more than 100 rushing yards, including three of his last four performances. If Auburn beats Alabama, it will be because the Crimson Tide became Hunter's latest victim.
LB Jalen McLeod:The Auburn linebacker and the Tigers' primary edge rusher has made a habit of finding his home in opposing backfields. Jalen McLeod leads Auburn with 12.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He has three tackles for loss and two sacks in his last two games. McLeod will be a tough final regular-season assignment for Alabama's offensive tackles.
WR Keandre Lambert-Smith:All the talk from the past two weeks has been about freshman Cam Coleman and his 100-yard games against Louisiana-Monroe and Texas A&M. Don't forget about Keandre Lambert-Smith: the 6-foot-1, 181-pound Penn State transfer who leads the SEC with eight touchdown receptions, and had 100-yard games himself against Louisiana-Monroe and Texas A&M.
On the field, Alabama holds a significant advantage over Auburn, winning 50 of 88 total meetings, including 12 of the Crimson Tide's past 16 meetings against the Tigers.
Alabama has won each of its past four games against Auburn since falling to the Tigers 48-45 to end the 2019 season. The Crimson Tide's most recent home loss to Auburn was in 2010.

No. 13 Alabama 28, Auburn 24:Throw stats, records and past performances out the window. This is the Iron Bowl, a game that has been decided by a single score in three of Alabama and Auburn's past five meetings. What could be an advantage? The Crimson Tide's ball-hawk, takeaway-happy defense against Thorne, despite having four interceptions in his past eight games after a four-interception game against Cal. One takeaway could be the difference Saturday, one that could give DeBoer his first Iron Bowl victory.
