Angel Reese's historic double-double streak has come to an end.
Reese recorded eight points and 16 rebounds in the Chicago Sky 's 81-67 loss to the New York Liberty in Chicago on Saturday, finishing just two points shy of what would have been her 16th consecutive double-double. Reese's 15-game streak had set a record for most consecutive double-doubles since Candace Parker had 12 in a row spanning the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Reese had an opportunity to keep her streak alive with less than 20 seconds remaining in the game. The rookie drove to the basket and was quickly surrounded by four Liberty defenders in the paint to prevent her from scoring. Reese passed the ball out to a teammate and didn't get another shot attempt.
