Tennessee received a commitment for its 2025 basketball recruiting class. Shooting guard Clarence Massamba committed to the Vols on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-5, 180-pound prospect is from France and plays for AS Monaco Basket in the LNB Pro A EuroLeague. He previously played for The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida.
"We are happy to welcome Clarence and his family to the Tennessee basketball program," Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said. "Once we identified Clarence as a player of interest, we immediately became excited about his impressive upside. He is a long, athletic, versatile guard who can really attack in the open court.
"He is good with the ball in his hands, yet also possesses the ability to excel without it. Clarence has a nice feel for the game and an excellent basketball IQ. He is a hard-working, driven young man who plays with a chip on his shoulder and our fans will love seeing the way he competes."
Tennessee has five commitments in its 2025 basketball recruiting class.
Forward DeWayne Brown was first in the class of 2025 to commit to Tennessee (April 20, 2024). Small forward Amari Evans committed to the Vols on Nov. 1, 2024, and point guard Troy Henderson flipped his commitment from Fordham to Tennessee on March 25. Forward Nate Ament committed to Tennessee on April 20.
The addition of Massamba leaves the Vols with three available scholarships for the 2025-26 season.
Tennessee signed Maryland guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie , Vanderbilt forward Jaylen Carey and Louisiana Tech guard Amaree Abram from the NCAA transfer portal.
